PS2 mod chips..

So, I'm looking to getting a PS2 mod chip.
I have a slim, and a phat back in storage.
Are I would assume most of the "new" stuff in this area is already old news.
This makes me think that there is probably a "best" one by now.

What is it?

There all outdated now, all of them are no longer updated/supported. I dont have problems with them tho.
Order of my preference and what I still see on the markets. All these (i think) support DEV.olution.

Crystal Chip - some games are auto patched for online play while others need dna$ codes and windip b4 burning. Didn't experience with these too much and they weren't too stable in my tests, but a lot of people recommend these. May buy one of these and swap it out of my slim.

DMS 4 SE Pro/lite (toxic OS/Bios firmware) - good quality chips (Pro version has 2MB for DEV.olution, and built in HDloader like program (forget whats its called, maybe thats it) on the chip so the program doesnt need to be on a memory card or disk or w/e. obviously needs a hhd and a fat ps2 with network adapter or slim v12-v13 with hdcombo/hdconnect mod. (Avoid their clones - came out recently rebranded) I find lite version to be more stable

DMS EZI no solder - best quality chips. clips on like wiiclip. smaller pins, seen many bad installs, most were fixable some required new clips. The most stable chip I have used when soldered on. expensive

Matrix Infinity (the one with the Actel chips) - good quality stable chips

maybe one or two i forgotten but those are good ones. mainly around 40-80 each (when i bought these).

Clones (all? clones are non updatable - but there are no more updates and most are running the newest firmware.)
Matrix clone - modbo - are one of their best clones depending on the team that produced them - They have clones too! Xeno PS is another, heard its ok but never used

DMS 4 lite clones - There was some performed quite well (forgot the name, but it looked like a flex cable with a chip. There is also a modbo 4.0 clone that actually runs toxic bios.

btw, I got some DMSliteANDmodbo760 for sale.

Edit: there were Duo 3s that people said were better than the modbo, i dont see much difference.

Yes that one you linked to is a clone. i can't recommend any sites since i havent bought them in a long time. mod-chip.com was the first place i bought them from but they are now under new owner. there is a place i know of that i have seen on these fourms. foundmy.com but have no clue if there good/legit, just noticed tat they are mentioned a few times and they sell chips

why bother with a modchip just use a memor pro memory card no need to open or solder ps2

how is compatibility, regional games pal on ntsc system, vice versa, and ps1 games with it? some 9000x doesnt work with it also i think. as with updatable... that product was suppose to be a memory card and momento firmware is a hacked version and i havent seen a update recently but u could still use esr tho but thats works on freemcboot, may be wrong on this tho.

Edit: o yea y buy a memor32 when there is freemcboot? sure it may be a bit eaiser...

a pro of them is portability no longer have to play backups on your system only.
