Directly. I don't have a modchip. Just FMB softmod.

Use PSXswap or PSXlauncher, whatever it's called. It requires you to own a legit ps1 game though.

How 'bout allowing me to use only backups?

I see.. but swap disk method works with any PS1 legit game then any back up yea?
For example, legit tekken 3, then I put in crash bandicoot backup.

I'm pretty sure any game works, yes. Keep in mind this only works with SCPH-5000X and higher and you need one of those disc tray openers.

FreeMcBoot, for all it does, is very limiting in that regard. PS2 basically has to load a different bootloader, persay, in order to launch a PS1 game. So that might be what you're running into there.

More or less, this is why I went toward getting a modchip for mine; it's able to auto-patch whichever method it needs to do based on what the system determines of the disc inserted.
