Ok, it might have been have benn asked before but: what should I do to play the game? I just received it, but it won't launch since I think the 3DS is region locked and I have an american one (which won't run japanese games). I know I must download something to run the translation, but is it also necessary to run the game itself? I'm really sorry if I sound like an idiot but might somebody help me?

Yes. You need a hacked 3DS in order to play the game at all.

Luma3DS will remove the region lock for games (though you will still be locked to your region's eShop), you also need it to run our mod. I suggest you use this guide: https://3ds.hacks.guide/. They also have a Discord in case you get stuck and need help.

Once you're done with that, follow our instructions to install our patch here: https://github.com/ScarletStudy/DGS1-3DS-Release

On Android, I'm hitting an issue on starting chapter 3 where after the initial cutscene plays the screen goes black and I can't continue. Has anyone else seen this? Would a logcat trace help debug?

When the screen goes black, restart the game and then just start episode 3 again. While it may sound silly, the cutscene seems to play properly once you restart the game after a failed attempt. Well, for me at least. I'm not exactly part of the team and by no means am I a programmer so this is just based on my personal experience.

Hey!
Does anybody know how to completely reset the save files of the game? I purchased a used copy from Japan and installed the patch, but it has the previous owner's save files. Yeah I know, I can delete/overwrite these save files, but is there a way to start the game as if it was completely new?

The invitation is expired, is there a newer one?
Link still works for me. It's the same link they use in their Kuriimu thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/release...olkit-for-authors-of-fan-translations.452375/

Yes, hold B+X+START while booting the game.

So I finally decided to play this game and since I barely use my 3DS lately I bought the Android version. But it seems like this aspect ratio isn't really supported that well (S10+), everything is moved all the way to the right instead of being centered.

Any idea if there's a way to fix it?

I raised an issue in the github page of the project, seems like the problem is in the game itself rather than the phone. Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done that I am aware of. I even sent a message to the support page but they only accept messages in japanese.

I'm pretty sure that's how the game is supposed to work. The upper screen on the 3ds is in 16:9 aspect ratio, so the android port uses that too, and if your aspect ratio doesn't fit, it adds the handy bar with the date and episode title as well as the patterned background. Pretty sure that's not getting changed, ever.

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
