Well, out of the 8 burns ive donem only 3 games work properly! And SMG gets read in the preview, but then before anything starts, it stops reading X_X

Is there anything i should do before burning games?

I already use wiifrii to patch them to my japanese wii, and Wiu1.1 to get rid of the brick blocker, but some games still dont work!

Is there anything else i should to to ensure my brawl, legend of zelda TP, galaxy, and harvest moon get burned properly?
I'm almost out of DVDs, and have the money, nor transportation to get them soon.

Edit: Oh, and i switch from burning at 2x, and 4x, but my main is 2x. and i use IMGBURN.

TDK DVD+R discs work fine for me. Never had a failed disc.
I use imgburn and use 2.4x speed (my burner won't go faster). I always let it verify the disc, and that always has 100% success

Use ImgBurn to burn your disks as opposed to Nero (which is good also) but ImgBurn is better for wii games.

Select the slowest speed possible (usually 2x) and select verify at the end to make sure there is no problems.

Done this way you will ensure a quality burn with a slim chance of getting a coaster.

Have a look at this site. Might help.

If you're afraid of wasting DVD+Rs, try DVD+RWs first. That's what I do in order not to waste discs unnecessarily.

Try NTSC-U versions then. PAL always gave me problems but not so with NTSC-U.

You may also want to check the compatibility list and see if they are working without any patching... some of the games in that past that were incompatible are now compatible patching w/ waninoko's iso patcher v1. You just drag the .iso (game) on the isopatcher.exe and type in 249. This has worked for alot of nonworking games before which has since made gamma almost completely compatible with all games.

So just hang in there and don't throw away all your discs just yet... I have had my stack go down before to a new loader and I am sure this will happen again.

Good luck.

Like IronMask mentioned, refer to the website I posted above. I follow that guide and all the games work perfectly! So if yours are PAL games, just scroll down to the PAL section.

I haven't been active in the forum for quite some time. Apparently there are alot of new homebrew apps now that are installed into the Wii which allow you to boot out of region games with no problems. GeckoOs? I have yet to use it but seems to work pretty well. Might want to have a look into it.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
