Out of every comment only one person talks about the Shiny Celebi, how much you want to bet we ether have to go see the movie in theaters or buy it to get Shiny Celebi, (the ones with a banned switch will have to hack it in) I preordered that pink switch lite so I have an unbanned coming next month.

Meh, lost pretty much all interest in Pokemon movies after the Sinnoh ones. Since then, I've watched the Unova movies just to see what they were like, and...I've spent my time watching more interesting things, but they weren't the worst wastes of time.

I'm glad they realised they needed to stop using Ash Ketchum, the boy who conquered the Hoenn Kanto Battle Frontier only to lose every League tournament until Alola, and thus cause a reboot. However, they need to stop using the "Ash Ketchum" character altogether, and either create a new protagonist for everything now or create new protagonists for each individual movie.

Didn't Ash promise his Pidgeot he'd go back for it after his then-current adventure, yet never actually fulfilled his promise? Didn't he leave his Primeape - yes, he once caught one - in the hands of some boxer? I remember liking Torkoal, Donphan, Sceptile and Infernape too, due to their personality; they were rarely used in later seasons. Due to how long Ash Ketchum was the central protagonist, there's so many Pokemon that have been neglected ever since their series ended, which is a major reason why I'm glad for the reboot. Clean slate - there are no broken promises or forgotten members anymore.

I would Like to see a girl lead in a all new season of pokemon, They should stop using ash and or have his kid take over something along the lines of that.

Personally, I'm not a fan of female protagonists; they just aren't as compelling as male protags, to me. Having them as deuteragonists (i.e. Misty, May, Dawn), instead of the main protagonist, is better in my eyes.

The main character being Ash's child would be quite a leap, considering the guy never aged a day past his tenth birthday; this isn't Naruto, where the main boy visibly grew older (I think; never watched Naruto) before justifiably having a son.

I'll bite, what makes them less compelling to you? To me whether a character's writing is good is completely separate to their gender.

I just can't 'connect' with female protagonists like I can with males, because I've never had a sister, close female cousin or friend in order to understand the female mindset. Meanwhile, being a guy, I know what the male mindset is like, meaning getting into their 'shoes', so to speak, is easier.

I'm also not a fan of tomboys, or of violent women, which most female protagonists tend to be. I see that as horrid and just not what should be promoted as 'acceptable' or 'normal'.

Female deuteragonists, meanwhile, don't quite get the same spotlight the protagonists get, so it's easier to ignore the elements I don't agree with. Hence why I was fine with May and Dawn, along with Persona 5, but not Bayonetta or Horizon: Zero Dawn.

You know what should be promoted as acceptable? Whatever the character damn well WANTS to be as long as it doesn't harm others. If you see a female protagonist acting how they want to and defying gender norms as "horrid", that's just you being sexist.

Lets all end this before it gets started if you really need to dish this out do it some other place because this is not the place/post to do so and its way way off topic.

I guess it comes down to accepting games and media aren't made for you, and accepting that your views are the minority, not the norm. That being said, there's plenty of games out there with strong male leads so I'm sure you'll be covered for content.

I will dish it out in exact equal quantities to others dishing out prejudice, bigotry and the like.
Not a bit more.
NOT. A. BIT. LESS.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
