Okay, so I just patched Ruby with GBATA and after setting the game clock in the hero's bedroom it ran correctly... while playing. After restarting the game a few minutes later, of course the time on the clock was still what it was at the time of the saved game. How can input the current time and restart the clock? In my bedroom I can only view the clock, not reset the time to match the current real-world time.

However, the big question is: does it even matter what the in-game time is and if it matches the real-world time? As I understand, there are no different Pokemon to catch between day and night and the RTC is only used for time-based events, right?

Still, it would be (almost) perfect if I could reset the clock whenever I wanted to make it match the current time. After all, there does seem to be a day-and-night system in Ruby/Sapphire(/Emerald).

Any thoughts?

It details a custom IPS patch made with a ROM editor for Ruby only (not saphire) that will add a clock to each pokeCentre where you can go to set the time of day. Dirrect link http://www.mediafire.com/?gtg2zzn5kmk

In Ruby and Saphire the only thing the clock is used for is berries and the tides at a couple places.
There is no day night cycle and there are no timed events ect...

The way it calculates the passage of time of eggs is by steps.

Fire Red and Leaf Green do not use the clock at all.
See http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Time#Generation_III for more information on the time system in generation 3 games, or the lack of time system :P
