AFAIK SMC and SFC are just extensions, it's the same format.
Basically. I know some ROM auditing tools will use SMC for ROMs with a certain sort of header, and SFC for those without. They're still basically the same thing though, the emulator doesn't care if there's a header or not.

I've been waiting for this feature......and now that its here. I'VE SPRUNG.
Lots of complaints...but I don't care. The supercard team seems pretty dang dedicated to me and I need to support the team for their efforts.
WHERE? are the other teams? M3,EZ,Acekard......? Where are their slot1 Snes and GBA solutions? This is still pretty sweet.

The DSTwo can do this because it has it's own special CPU and RAM.

The other cards you mentioned don't.

kind of bummed that some of the games i rlly was waiting to play are pretty much unplayable, but at least they are still releasing shit for the dstwo and didn't abandon it, i have faith that they'll fix this in the future, also hoping for some GBAEmu tweaks

I think that he means, that the other competitors can't compete simply because they can't do what the DSTwo can do, which is a lot, a lot of awesome stuff.

The emulator is not a beta version and all the games I tried had problems from what I have seen when new emulators come out is that any improvements in regard to speed is marginal at best, I don’t really think that the GBA and SNES are going to get much better from what I have gathered from other forums, how sad

Anyone else experiencing random crashes when returning to the NDSSFC menu?
Sometimes, yes.
I lost a HUGE amount of data on Link To The Past due to this.

Has anyone been able to keep an in-game save after leaving the emulator? Even if I quit to the DS2 menu, I still lost data.

but for DS games " BRILANT"

Now you get the idea, don't bash the card cause it doesn't have exactly what you want.

On Topic: I really think this needs to be improved but it does what i need it to do.

Well, save ingame, then leave the emulator by "Exit" and it should stay there (same as with the GBA Emulator)

I'm having the same problem

Basically I have a DSTwo supercard and just the basic Eos v1.06 plus the SNES emulator. I can do in-game saves and reset the game and re-load them fine - but if I quit from the game (super metroid) I lose all game data even when I do quit via the "Exit" feature of the emulator. I also can't write any save states, although screen dumps are saved OK to the card. By the way I'm using an 8Gb SDHC card. Any help would be greatly appreciated as playing SNES games (actually just Super Metroid) on a DS was all I bought the DSTwo for

I had this happen with my NES emulator a few days ago. I backed up my microSD card, formatted it, and restored the backup. This fixed it for me.

Actually, except for a couple of weird (interleaved) formats the only difference is how the header is formatted. Back in the old days, many backup units had their own header format so you needed to use a tool like ucon64 to convert between them. Fortunately, most emulators (including NDSSFC) don't care about the header at all. Of course, if you have a problem with a ROM you can always try stripping the header (use ucon64 -lsv romname.smc to see if there is a 512 byte header and if so, use ucon64 -stp romname.smc to remove it).

OK, I'll give that a go. BTW did you format as FAT16 or FAT32?

There is no need to even do that if you have access to a linux/mac system. Just copy the gamerts directory somewhere else (i.e. cp -a gamerts gamerts.bak), run dosfsck (chkdsk will probably not work), and then copy the original gamerts back. What happens is that the gamerts directory data gets messed up and needs to be fixed but doing so will cause you to lose some data in there so you want to backup everything in gamerts so you don't lose anything. Finally, when you see "fats differ but appear to be intact" choose the 1st fat as most homebrew does not update both copies of the fat.

Sorry, I don't know of a port of dosfsck to Windows but if you can find one then it should work.

"gamerts directory"? What gamerts directory? The installation info for the SNES emulator does not mention this?! Unfortunately I don't have access to either a Linux or Mac

X:\NDSSFC\gamerts\ . That is where all the savedata gets stored and what gets corrupted. You might be able to just back it up, delete it (the entire gamerts directory/folder, not just what is in it), and then restore the contents from the backup. I will try that later.

Just to be on the safe side I did a backup, reformated the SDHC card as FAT32, copied everything back across and created the 'gamerts' directory and everything looks OK now - thanks!
