Hacking Play dvd movies on wii

Hi, thanks for reading. i am sure there have been many questions about this but i have searched all over the net and forums to try and get this working again. some people say it works, some people say it doesnt,

at one time i used to be able to play dvds on my wii, now dvdx is not supported (could be wrong) i cannot get it to play dvd movies.

some people say unstub the dvd ios???

im on 4.3 sys menu unofficial update (using mod-mii)
boot mii installed
homebrew backup launchers work
pal copies work from DVD drive (NTSC used to work but have to use a launcher to get them to load before i started using usb loader)
wii drivekey modchip installed

since my drive stopped reading ntsc is when it stopped playing dvds ?????

please help me find a soloution thank you :0)

Use the:

-latest WiiMC
-latest IOS58
-latest HBC (1.0.8)

Done, most of the Movie DVDs should work now (you probably already have the latest HBC and the latest IOS58 if you used ModMii to update. DVDX isn't required anymore, like you said. The HBC and IOS58 will do that for you now). About the NTSC-"Backups" not working: 4.3 disables Region-Free from ModChips, you would have to use Startpatch or Priiloader to enable it again, or use a (USB)Loader.

HBC is 1.08 already, running on ios58, i used modmii to get me from 4.2e to 4.3

There must be a way to do this. like i said it plays pal game copies, used to play ntsc game copies (stopped playing ntsc after updating to 4.+ well before 4.2 and 4.3. )

i now use config loader and usb gx which loads any region just about. so the games arent the problem.

just cannot figure out what ios has changed and what ios i need to put back in to restore dvd functionality.

mc player just hangs on loading dvds. if i put in disc channel it comes up with the usual cannot read wii disc? and i have to reset.

its not a new wii, i got it 2-3 years ago now, it was 3.4 at the time. like i say after 4.0 is when the ntsc copies stopped loading from disc channel.

erase wiimc and copy it again. Sometimes my wiimc loads well a dvd and the next day the same dvd doesnt work

hi mate thanks for your response i do have ios 202 installed already checked the version which is by kwirks? ios 202v65535 is this the right ios version.

no dvd movie originals will load, just says invalid disc in wii mc. i am thinking i might have the wrong version installed of the ios. wii mc is latest version, installed on sd card and channel forwarder on sys menu.

gonna check around for diff vs of ios 202 if its not that then i dont know what it is.
