Looking into parts. Would this resistor work fine, size-wise, for a Switch Lite? The AIO thread suggests an SMD 8050 resistor size but I can't seem to find that anywhere.

Also, would I need to update the firmware on the RP2040? If so, how would I do that? The USB port will be removed, so I'm a little stumped in this area. Would it be better to get an RP2040-One to simplify this?

sure they would work but instead of looking for 8050 might wanna search for 0805 :-)

I would prefer SMD resitor size 0805, 1% tolerance (i guess you got the number wrong).

The AIO thread says 8050, so that's what I searched:
  • SMD 8050 47 to 50 ohm Resistors
Probably worth an edit to prevent future confusion.

Either way, thank you! Found this listing.

Another question: what is the reason for removing the 3.3V regulator from the RP2040? If I'm to update the firmware later, wouldn't I need this?

srry for the offtopic post does anyone here have experience with reballing emmc?

is this solder paste okay? klick me for link
although @rehius said it is ok, i think that a melting point of 138°C is a bit low for this kind of chip also considering how tight things are packed inside switch (and the temperature levels inside).
Anyway, i'm in way an expert on the matter but I thought it was worth giving it a second look.

that one looks better :)

to save some space , yes if u want to over usb u should leave it

i think when fw 2.6 is released u can do that over hekate so for now leave it till the update is out :)

With such melting point it's much easier to solder eMMC back, no damage due to overheating, less PCB bend.

Commonly such high temperature is unreachable (I highly doubt you can get your eMMC even up to the 60°C).

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.
