How about just signing in online, or on homebrew?
Can Sony still detect it?

You can't get online with the jailbreak right now so that's a moot point.

Sony could update their detection systems at any time and we wouldn't know.

They haven't banned anybody so we don't know what they check for.

The "PS3 320G Move bundle" had FW3.40, 20 days ago in France.

I think they didn't update it yet to 3.42+

The jailbreak doesn't modify the firmware so the update option is not blocked. If you updated to 3.42 or higher you're fucked.

And it's true you cannot play online with the jailbreak. The jailbreak needs

One thing to note: I'm pretty sure the PS3 plays pirated DVDs without any issue even without the whole PSJailbreak.... my friend plays his all the time using his PS3, lol.

Anything that plays a normal DVD will play a pirated DVD because it's part of the standard, unencrypted has to play as well (otherwise there's no home movies and such).

It's now possible to play games requiring firmware version superior to the one of the console, without any patches.
Like playing a 3.42 game (Medal of Honnor) on a PS3 fw3.41.
or playing a game requiring fw3.41 (Mafia2) on a PS3 fw3.01.

it only needs the latest payload (KaKaRoTo's PL3 from 2010-10-23) and Gaia Manager 1.02 or OM2.1g


I thought it could be useful to add this info to the FAQ for people keeping OtherOS.
(for example : Q. do I need to update to 3.41 ? A. no, 3.01 can play newer games, etc.)
And the FAQ still ask to update to 3.41, you can change to 3.01, 3.10, 3.15 and 3.41

The PL3 is available to every devices.
Either
- the retails keys (which accept upgrades), like PSjailbreak2, PS3break1.1 etc.
- programmable USB hub (teensy, blackcat, ATxxx etc.) (not complete on this website though)
- Rockboxes devices
- TI84+

I don't know about the PSFreedom compatible phones (HTxxx, android, etc.). I don't see anything about PL3 for those.
