I'm actually getting around 30 FPS in my room (which is upstairs in my house). No Ethernet or anything. Pretty solid if you ask me.

I can't imagine how much smoother it would be if I tried using an Ethernet cable.

Is there still a delay between the N3DS and the video stream? I'd like to play games on my monitor and just use the N3DS as a controller without having to look at it.

Does it work on nds and GBA games?
No, GBA games run on emulated GBA firmware separate from the regular 3DS firmware where NTR is running, which is why your 3DS reboots when you exit a GBA game.

If you really want to capture GBA or NDS games on your computer, just use an emulator, they've been emulated perfectly on PC.

This is awesome! Now I just have to find a reason to use it (don't really make vids much)

Technically not worthless, but worth less. Literally. The discounts have already started.
(wait a minute, there's an overwhelming sense of déjà-vu, have I already posted this here before?)
Wow, price cutting the 2DS capture card when this only supports N3DS. This gives me the impression that 2DS capture cards just aren't selling, rather than the capture card maker realizing this seriously affects their business.

Anybody having blocky/pixilated video in the game (i.e. movie cutscene) when using this preview? Note this happen even not using the streaming feature. I guess this is a preview for a reason.

Barely! I played Monster Hunter on my big TV yesterday! :) Though looking at a 30fps stream then to a 45-60fps native screen is awkward. Hopefully the next update will support even faster rendering.

Also, I can definitely tell why this won't work on O3DS. I force under-clocked the CPU and turned L2 off in the NTR options and the stream was going at 10FPS and under.

I made a quick video to show a friend who's interested in capturing 3DS footage. He's really into interpolation techniques to improve framerate in Anime/Videos that are <60FPS and he ran the brief bit I gave him through it and I've got to say, I'm impressed. My network situation isn't the best so had around 30fps with drops as low as 20fps, he mentioned to me that a more constant framerate would make the interpolation better and again if he wanted to he could edit it more to speed up the footage during drops to keep the video at a steady framerate. Just food for thought for those looking to use this to make professional videos.

Edit: Original footage for comparison sake

what settings did you use for remote play?

If you or some one else knows how to mod the o3ds and n3ds to run a ethernet cable than that would be amazing.

That might actually be more complicated than installing a capture card. Video output only requires tapping into the LCD's connections to provide an alternative outlet. Adding Ethernet support to 3DS would not only require a hardware modification, but also altering the system software to accept data from a wired source.

Then what are you waiting for?! Get to it!

Edit: lol no but seriously though that's to much work even for one person.

So, would it be possible to apply filter effects to the video stream on the PC? I mean, I'm guessing you can't increase the internal resolution like in an emulator, so placing a filter over the picture would be the next best thing. Would doing something like that hypothetically hurt the framerate, or since it would be done on the PC side of things, it would be simple?

The best method for that would be to record it, and add a filter in a Video Editor.
