Hacking Noob questions (XGD3)

Hi guys, today I bought my first 360 (because of its extremely low price), and I actually don't know a lot about modding it.

The past few days I've been reading a lot about it and I have just a few basic questions.

The 360 has an iXtreme LT +3.0 flashed on it.

But I can't seem to get my hands on any iHAS burners, there just aren't any available to buy (that are under $60, I'm not paying that much).

Since I don't care for playing online (I will never connect with the 360), my questions are:

Can I backup games like Halo 4 and Gears 3 with a normal dual layer burner with overburn or truncate?

Is that a guaranteed thing to work? Or will it successfully burn like 1 out of 3 disc attempts, or will it just plain not work anytime?

Overburning or truncating discs will work, but they can spit out discread errors.

You could take a look at this list and pick a drive that's cheaper.
Those drives work with the burner max payload tool.
