I'm just going to throw online play for PSP games out there. I don't really expect anything huge.

Like several people said, a proper dumper is probably the number 1 major thing the vita scene needs at the moment. Yifan lu also expressed how bad the current dumpers are.

I'd be extremely happy if this is at least in the works. It's also a reason why I'm currently not touching the vita (piracy-wise)

motoharu is currently working on one actually. https://github.com/motoharu-gosuto/psvemmc < If The Flow decided to pick this up along with motoharu, it's very probable a "Vitamin v3" may be coming which would involve proper dumps.

Thanks for the info.

It seems the dev might have stopped working in it, since his last commit was in early June. But yeah, I can definitely see theflow picking this up.

Scene propers should be first priority by then. It's currently a mess, with Mai and vitamin dumps, which ironically are both invalid lol

He's also working on the way to load them which has recent commits: https://github.com/motoharu-gosuto/psvgamesd which might explain the lack of commits there.

Heck, if TheFlow took over the dumper while motoharu's been working on this, it seems even more likely the big surprise is a proper dumper which would be amazing work!

Realistic or not, a lot of people seem to gravitate towards guesses related to pie-in-the-sky emulators like Dreamcast/PS2.

Why so? Has TheFloW been involved in developing emulators in his current Vita, or former PSP scene life?

oops. i will update the op with that tweet when i wake up. thanks!
You can imbed tweets by doing the following :)

"Scene propers" are only of interest to digital preservationists, the average pirate doesn't give a fuck, the existing broken dumps are satisfactory for their needs.

Point being, "propers" are a long term goal, it could take years. There simply isn't enough motivation for the community to make "propers" a top priority.

Sure, the average pirate wouldn't care

.. until some game doesn't work or they weirdly lose their save, which is some of the issues with the current dumpers

That being said, I don't really care what average pirates do. I only care that the scene of any console is taken full advantages off, with the tools developed and exploits discovered. Stuff like a bad dumper is (in my opinion) a hindrance to the growth of the scene.

As for dumpers getting propered, while it can take years, I personally believe the communities interested in this kind of thing will do this in no time, given that vita hacking is still relatively new, and the console is still latest generation.

Anyway, time will tell I suppose

I'm personally not fussed about 3.61+ decryption, as I have 3 consoles. The way I look at it, is pirate everything 3.60 and below and buy the original carts for 3.61+ to use on another console.

It's not like the Vita catalogue is huge or on par with the 3DS's. Plus, I don't think any newer decryption (vita side) work would come from "Theflow", as it would be more "Yifan Lu", if I was to guess or other devs because the vita security is still a tough one to crack.

Right now, I would like to see current tools updated and made better, such as a new dumper, as Vitamin is outdated and Maidump is poorly written and a bug fest.

D. R. EEM. CAST. Dreamcast bitches!

Lol, never gonna happen biatch:p :)

Not even a PC can get 100% emulation and it takes somehorse power that the Vita could not handle. Even a PS2 emulator would be out the question, which everyone expects to see.
