Since 2006, Nintendo has been offering a 512MB SD Memory Card for the Nintendo Wii. That was years ago. It's time for a bigger DS Memory Card from Nintendo. The 2GB Memory Card will be out the middle of this March in Japan. Pricing is listed as "open." So if you are one of those who only wants first party Nintendo goods, this one's for you.

Stupid, they released a 2GB for the Wii 2 years ago as well. Only n00bs buy those Nintendo branded cards for Wii. What Nintendo needs to introduce is SDHC support for the Wii and DSi.

SDHC is already supported by homebrew, so they have no excuse.

Just need that and a hard drive and the Wii could start kicking some real ass for once.

I mean, its not like hackers are gonna do much with it anyway. We are already getting the features we want on our own.
Besides, it would require a system menu update.

Though then again, games might have trouble reading SDHC.
Though update an IOS and they should act accordingly right?

Ya, no excuses. Nintendo is just lazy.

They need to include SDHC support. Nintendo! Wake up! This isn't 2000! Also, who would buy a Nintendo-Branded SD Card when you could get SD, even SDHC cards for way cheaper.

I don't care about what sized card they offer, SD, SDHC, doesn't matter.

What does matter is that they allow the Wii to read virtual console and wiiware games direct from SD. Until that happens, I don't care how big of an SD card the Wii supports, because size is useless without functionality.

They might be good for someone who collects Nintendo products.

Best Buy has 2GB SD cards in the Wii section that say "Wii" on them. It's marketting folks, some less informed people will buy them and pay the huge premium because it's an official Nintendo product. This is a money grabbing scheme, not some elaborate release plan.

Also Nintendo wouldn't support a SDHC card... don't games like Animal Crossing and Smash Bros. Brawl not support SDHC? We've proven that it can work with the hardware, but Nintendo is not goingto go back and make a patch for Excite Truck etc.

What kind of world do we live in, where you can pay less and get more, and pay more and get less. I'm referring of course to flashcarts, which are generally cheaper and give you more functionality options, and the Nintendo SD card, which costs more yet you cannot do all of the things that you can do on a flashcart.

Oh well, Pirates rule!

They'd be daft not to. Joe buys a DS, want a memory card with that? As people who are used to computers we forget that some people have absolutely no idea when it comes to memory cards, and with so many types, shapes and sizes out there the market is just plain confusing if you don't know what you're looking for. And many can't be bothered with the hassle of sorting it all out. It's a shame that they'll probably take advantage by slapping on a nasty price tag, but it makes perfect sense.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
