With a durable design and lower price point, Nintendo 2DS is a great first-time system for kids or anyone new to portable gaming. Its unique combination of video game fun and value will become even clearer on Nov. 21 when Nintendo launches new Crystal Red and Crystal Blue Nintendo 2DS systems at a suggested retail price of $99.99 each. Kids will love the slick semi-transparent design, and gamers of all ages will enjoy having access to a library of more than 3,000 games, including the recently launched Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and other great games like Mario Kart 7 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

The Crystal Red and Crystal Blue systems are launching alongside Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, the next great Pokémon adventures coming to retail stores, Nintendo.com and the Nintendo eShop at a suggested retail price of $39.99 each.

As the new Pokémon games are released, Nintendo releases a new 2DS? Neat huh!

Oh god haha I just saw "Nintendo introduces Crystal Red and Crystal Blue..." on the side of my browser and I thought that they were making another remake of Pokémon Red and Blue :D

Actually that's what I was thinking when I originally read the press release. Sadly no :glare:

Decisions decisions. A cheap 2DS just to get those few 3DS releases I sort of want to play out of the way, or wait for a new 3DS and hope for miracles?

$99 (aka 99€ and 99£) are still too much for the worst console of the 3DS line. I hope they have a game included or something.

Actually £89, but yes, I do agree. I'm sort of interested in the device (US price point, but still), but a "New 2DS" would be more interesting than the new 2DS models released for the holiday season.

This look was "in" in the 90's if I'm not mistaken.

I don't want to see the inside of the handheld while I play games. That's creepy. :(

Wait for a cheap New 2DS? (Which I can see happening in the next big Nintendo game release)
Probably not happening anytime soon.

New 3DS featured an improved 3D screen. Since 2DS doesn't do 3D there is no point in putting the new screen in. That and the fact that 2DS is a budget model. It makes more sense for Nintendo to use 2DS to clear out old parts than using new parts.

For people who always have the 3D effect disabled it doesn't really affect them so that for some isn't a selling point, I know for it wouldn't be. The better hardware and exclusives would be.

I thought Nintendo was stupid for the whole 2DS thing, but I see a lot of people with them these days, and 99$? That's a fine price for a huge library of DS and 3DS games.
And I bought my OG 3DS for 250$...

Now if only they could take some inspiration from the 3DS and change the chase something less shit.
I've owned a 2DS for over a year now. It's bulky and awkward to carry around, the screen needs protection, and dusk and shit gets stuck under the joystick all the time. If I wasn't poor, I could have bought a real 3DS by now.

I wish there was Atomic Purple and Smoke Black. I like the see-through look but these really look cheap (just like the 2DS in general).

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
