LU64+ Wiis have boot2v4, which is what causing the problems on them. But no, don't install that boot2 on a boot2v4(LU64+) Wii, boot1 won't accept it even when it's correctly signed.

Well done. want a medal?

Why do you feel the need to be so rude.
Do you feel better when you talk down to someone else?

Anyways if you see my name I would like it very much if you do not make any comments unless you want to be helpful.

Thanks,

No, that isn't the problem with LU64+ wii's, the problem is that on old wii's boot1 had the trucha bug and on LU64 wii's dont, and bootmii uses the trucha bug, which isn't present on invulnerable boot1's. And boot1 can't be updated by Nintendo, so the old ones will always be invulnerable, and the new ines will never be vulnerable. It doesn't matter what version of boot2 it has, it's the boot1 that matters.

Sorry for being rude, but we already knew nintendo could update boot2, so your post was pretty meaningless. you didn't even mention any possible consequences or anything. you just said "i found xxx". you may as well have said "i found 10p" for all the good you brought to us.

The comments that "beegee7730" and "WiiPower" are very helpful. It is people like this that make a good forum that helps people.

We all need to remember that at one point in time we were at the point of not knowing.

Exactly. We cannot change boot1 or boot2 only. It's a "pack" boot1 has to be "coherent" with boot2 (inverse is true too)
And I really don't think we can change our boot1 (dunno with a NAND programmer)

The problem on boot2v4 (LU64+) Wiis, is the the execution of some IOS is prevented. You do know that there are 3 different kinds of Wiis?

You can install another boot2, but i wouldn't do it. And i think that a boot2 downgrade from 4 to 2 is prevented.

yeah, but i'm pretty sure any newer official version will work. there just may not be a newer version yet than v4. but there probably will be in the next update to kill bootmii. which is stupid because "accidently" allowing bootmii would save nintendo the hassle of having to fix bricks.

I'm guessing Nintendo make a lot of money from fixing bricked wiis with very little effort...that's probably why they wanna kill bootmii, probably has something to do with people taking more risks and improving homebrew/hacking because they can just always restore NAND.

If i was nintendo, i wouldn't provoke TT. Ignoring TT, fixing bugs, closing security holes and all that is understandable and maybe everybody would do that. But if they would update boot2 in a way, that Wiis with BootMii would be bricked, i think TT would get angry. I believe they could find find ways to harm nintendo then, while still not supporting warez.

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)

when SD cards/microSD write speeds drop below a meg a sec, they're usually on the verge of dying

Samsung SD format can sometimes fix them too
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
yes looks like an faulty sd

@Psionic Roshambo i may try that with my dead sd cards

@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
