I can't get my retail copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii to work. It had been working fine for the longest time, but then I updated to Darkcorp with whatever cios rev that uses (17 maybe?) and now I get an error after a few minutes of playing. I would uninstall it and go back to what I had before... but I can't remember what cios rev and what cioscorp version I had before. Could anyone with a retail copy of the game tell me how they got it to work for them?
Reinstall IOS51.
Does it matter which version of IOS51? I found a Wii Shop and IOS51 installer... so I assume that should do the trick, correct?

EDIT: Actually, it seems the IOS51 installer has been updated to a IOS61 installer... so is that what I should use?

A friend of mine hacked my wii using the bannerbomb method. We now don't live near eachother and I want to be able to play the New Super Mario Brothers.

My only problem, is I really don't understand what to do based on reading this site. Is there someone who can please give me some helpful information or tell WHICH instructions on this site I need to follow?

Thanks,
Ms. H

would it make sense to just "unhack" my wii so i can play new super mario brothers?

at this point, the only hacked game we play is mario kart.

"Unhacking" is probably a lot more difficult than just updating your mod.

Just follow this: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171...t=0&start=0 and your Wii should be able to run NSMBW after that

I have a general question: Why can't we fix the anti-piracy with a cheat (like is done with DS games often)?
"We" can, and did (at least for NSMBW, look again, it's there).

In the end, there are simply better solutions, like the WIP-Files, BCA-Files, or hardcoding it into the loader. Especially BCA-Files are the most cleanest one, because they are the closest to a real game.

Quicky:

- Wiikey2 Chip with Firmware 1.3
- NSMB used to work fine, now I get the infamous 'an error has occured' message

I was already at 4.2E and a disc (I can't remember which one) asked me for an update last week, which I allowed, because it didnt do a full upgrade, apparently only one IOS. (I read about it here).

Did that one replaced IOS screw up my ability to play NSMB Wii? Everything else works fine. Galaxy 2 included.

[edit] I think I should download an unpatched iso. Could be the update prevented the patched ISO from working?

I think the update from the other game has installed an unpached version of IOS53. You need to install a trucha patched IOS53 then NSMB should work again. You can use Dop-Mii or a similar program for taht.

Thanks!
I had a patched ISO (and a patched IOS53) before and you were right: IOS53 was installed with the update.
But I got me a firmware update 1.3 for my chip and the unpatched ISO and now all is fine.

quick question as I'm reading tutorial guides (i don't have a HDD to do a softmod btw so thats out of the question). i have a wiikey v1 with 1.99

I have a patched NSMB and I get the dreaded error screen.

I have a 3.2U Wii (hasn't been touched in a while because my ps3 was still alive) and I want to play this game. Based on what I'm reading, I'm missing a couple of IOS's. The last time any game updated my Wii was from Madworld or something like that.

I guess I'm missing IOS53. Will installing Homebrew Channel and using Wad Manager to install all the IOS's I'm missing fix the problem or is there a better solution that doesn't involve the softmod?

Thanks ahead of time.

I think installing IOS53 5406 is the better way. You also could make a system update, but only install the IOS with a wad manager is definitely better.

thanks for the help.

where can I find IOS53 5406 (ie/ a good website)?

I'm still a bit iffy about these IOS's. I always read about many versions of IOS53.

I am going to backup the Wii's NAND just incase installing IOS's mess something up.

I've searched google and a few links with IOS53 v5406 have showed up but I can't tell if they are reliable or not.

Thanks again for the help.

edit: forgot to add that i have a wiikeyv1 with the newest update.
