Hacking New M3DS Real Guide

As you can see by means of my open questions at the bottom of my last post I'm also not pleased with this "unfinished" solution.
If you could bypass this by holding a (some) buttons at the boot up procedure it would be great.


But as you think it can be quite handy if you "focus" on one game at the moment (Advance Wars in my case at the moment) and have a "daily routine" from Monday till Friday e.g. go to work by train every day at exactly the same time and just want to switch on your device and play on.


It would be really simple for the M3 team to add some more switches to the boot ini but for this to happen more users should know about the possibilities and demand it or nothing will change -_^ !!

it says 1024Mb's
not mega bytes
and it just a general term
like 128Mb, 256Mb, 512Mb, and 1024Mb
thats not the actual size they are, but are read that way

most likely there was dummy files to make the rom that size before it was trimmed

I think they're megabits anyway, so the measure in megabytes is an eigth of that.

This must be said!

Most people don't have fast PDF readers like FoxitPro and use the crappy Adobe version, so for the sanity of many, if your guide is any good and you wish for it to be read my most people, translate it to HTML, it's not hard. If you're THAT lazy you can google a solution for PDF->HTML even.


SNEmul_R4_M3Simply.nds wouldn't go on the root, and you shouldn't be using the R4/M3 Simply version anyhow, or at least I don't, just use the normal one, that's compatible with the M3 Real, and put it with your files.

System isn't case sensitive, mine is named "SYSTEM", pdaDS isn't needed (Optional)
None of the emulated folders need to be named the way you have them, at all. Most actually make you choose where they are, except NeoDS which needs them to be on the root ==;

As for DSOrganize, DSision is way better for booting homebrew, so if you're going to use DSOrganize don't bother with pdaDS, as it does most of that and more.

No homebrew minus 'extra' files needs to go on the root, everything from the M3 Real is booted as an NDS file from the /NDS/ folder, other .cfg, .dat, and folders may head to the root, but that's all.

Replace those screenshots with screenshots from some sort of emulator or something, because to be completely honest, it's horrible with the glare :S If not, you can load the skin in a skin-maker or whatnot, there is one for m3 real.

SoftReset key never takes me back to the desktop... it just restarts the game, am I retarded or is mine just acting weird?

Loading homebrew/emulators is easier from the NDS Loader to be honest for the most part. If you're having problem with any homebrew you're better off using DSision or DSOrganize than you are using that.

Thank you also for DriveSort, even though I've had my M3 Real for a month, these things have pissed me off, and I've been too lazy to find a solution. :3

The rumored feature is actually done by placing the NDS file as default.nds in the root, or so I've heard, I don't have any proof of it.

You need to download the firmware then drag and drop the whole 'system' folder onto the root of the MicroSD. Pop it into the M3 Real and your set to go from there. Of course you will need to transfer the games too.

I answered you in the other thread you made..
1. Download firmware from http://handheldsources.com/M3DS/Download_M3DSR.html (it's System V3.7c (Europe/USA) files you'll be needin')
2. Extract .zip file onto your computer
3. Copy folder called "system" in the root of your microSD card (it must be the first thing you copy to your card)
4. After that, make a folder called NDS, and put your games in it (if you have some GBA games, place them in a folder called GBA-but to play GBA games, you have to have GBA expansion slot 2 cart)
5. Put the microSD into M3 Real and Real in your NDS.....and knock yourself off......

It may also be beneficial to note that the first time you turn it on, it loads a LOT faster if you do so with no or few (1~5) games on the cart, after the 2nd loadup (Choosing language, blah blah, reboot twice), you can then put games and it'll save you much time.

I seem to be having a problem which isn't addressed in your guide.

I have downloaded teh lastest system software and it is in the folder called SYSTEM, I also have a folder called NDS for all my roms.

However when I boot up my card I only have 5 icons on my main page they are: MyCard, Boot, Media, PDA and Setting
If I go into MyCard I see 2 folders which are my SYSTEM and NDS folders as on my sdcard. If I go into the NDs file and click on teh games however I cannot play them.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Check out Sakura, as it's far superior in graphical and multimedia way..And it has amazing touch response..

Hi I have set my SD card up as you have shown. My games work well but when I go to the media player it locks up. What version of system files have you found to work?
I have treid version 3.1, 3.6 and 3.8 but all do the same.
