Yes I realise where I am but I'm not very good at all this stuff and well I thought I'd ask you guys and gals, see if I can get some opinions.

Anyway just got with this girl, we're both nearing 30 but I'm not the romantic type, already got her a present for valentines day, going to see papa roach and then less than jake a few days later but that's in March, really want to do something nice and kinda unique for her on valentines. She's a bit geeky and super quirky but I'm crap at all the romantic stuff.

Can the community chime in and give me a few ideas, whatever it is can't be uber expensive as I'm not going to have mad funds, but yeah would appreciate some help on this one.

Thanks in advance guys and girls

I wouldn't think there is a "by the books" solution to this. Just do something that you know will make her happy, such as your company.

If your company doesn't make her happy then, well, tough shit.

I know this sounds dumb but have you checked her Facebook or what not? Sometimes they leave hints.

Yeah, no lol. Women aren't like that, girls yes, but women don't write their fantasies online for the world to see

Course my company is good enough for, just spent 7 hours straight chilling watching films but I wanna do something nice

Well maybe that's because the facebook doesn't allow what she wants
(If you know what I mean)

Don't raise her expectations by doing too much or being too creative. If you're with her for a while, she'll expect similar behavior and you'll go through this dilemma annually for B-day, V-day, and other holidays.

Not a bad idea, just wanted to do something different. I'm even toying with the idea of getting a ring box and putting a Haribo (sweet) ring in it. It'll be funny and I think she'll appreciate the humour behind it.

I'm with GreatCrippler. You should take her to dinner, but by the sounds of it, you've already seen enough movies for now. Maybe you two can go out for a stroll? Go to a concert? Go do some other unique activity?

In my opinion it doesn't have to be a surprise. You could just ask her what she wants to do.

What is the reason for buying her a gift? Yes - you want to win her heart.

But from my experience women don't respond well to bigger presents.
A chocolate is enough. More important:
Someone who can provide a solid income and takes care of himself
is always the first choice.

So buy her a chocolate, walk around in the city or park together,
make some smalltalk - but tell her a little bit, only a few sentences, about
how you plan your career(!), your future plans, family (most important) and
regular health checkups at the doctor (very important to support family).

And you will see - it will be the best valentines day in her life.
Especially if she is nearing her 30's.

Good Luck!

Yes. Because the first thing someone wants to do on valentines day is to hear about your trip to the doctor.

Appreciate the input, but kinda got to agree with everyone, that's a conversation you have when you know things are moving into long term not a valentines day thing. Bad idea dude

At the risk of sounding like an idiot (and not knowing if there is such an event on valentine's day), what about one of those movies in concert events? There haven been a couple of those over the years (Lord of the Rings was a couple of years ago, and Fantasia and (I think) Blue Planet were last christmas) and they seem interesting.
