Okay, so the skinny is... picked up one of the N3DS's. It came with 11.0.0-33U. Trying to use the DSiWare downgrade method with my updated, Old 3DS XL that's been A9'd and stuff, since its screens are borked and the sum of parts needed to repair were more expensive than this N3DS is, as of this writing.

Following plailect's guide, I'm now down to https://3ds.guide/dsiware-downgrade, section IV, to try and use ctr-httpwn. Step three in that is telling me "launch homebrew on the device using homebrew launcher (no browser). The link shows me a bunch of different games I would need to buy, which I don't have. I was trying to use the DSiWare downgrade, since I did have four swords legit.

So... I'm confused. Which 3DS needs to run HBlauncher? And if it's the N3DS, it's not explaining how I would do that.

Tried to search for the plailect guide thread to ask, but couldn't find it. So, this thread.

In short, as you said, Plailect's guide tells you what games you need to buy to access the Homebrew Launcher, since Browserhax does not work. To set up the games, just Google it. The system you were transferring to needs the Homebrew access.

I'm a noob still learning myself.

I believe you can just update your new 3ds to 11.2 and skip the steps about ctr-httpwn. Verify that though.

Won't you get to homebrew launcher with four swords after the transfer?

You can, that's how I did it 2 months ago when 11.1 was still new. I skipped the ctr-httpwn steps entirely.

You still need some kind of entry point for homebrew on 11.2 and browserhax doesn't work anymore for that firmware.

He would sys transfer steeldiverhax as well so it'd have the dsiware and a homebrew entrypoint
Pretty much this, to my understanding.

Now, if I could just get the damn system transfer to go through. It's like I keep getting errors where it'll stop at either:
  • it attempting to log in to verify it can do system transfer. It's almost like the router doesn't want them both being on the same network for whatever reason
  • having to log in for NNID to ensure I can
  • actually finding each other to start the damn process
Debating whether to keep trying or just take a break for tonight and try again later. this kind of bs gets on my nerves, you know? :hateit: Especially now, I really don't want to fuck anything up. :nds:

Okay, System Transfer finally completed on N3DS. Now I'm down to the section in the guide for Backing up the NFIRM.

First step it lists is "copy boot.nds to target 3DS's SD card".

Uh... what? Looking at everything I was supposed to download, I don't see a single file among the list for boot.nds :wtf: There is a boot.3dsx, though.

Derp... okay. that answers that.

Well, seems I finally got system transfer done. NFIRM successfully flashed. And firmware downgraded to 9.2, far as I can see.

But now I can't launch steelhax to get Homebrew launcher going to continue the process. Uh...

Okay... N3DS is down to 9.2.0. SafeA9LH installer finished. Now I'm where it's telling me to go ahead and run system update, but it's just... not. Last I recall, at this point I was able to use Hourglass 9 to restore my NAND backup and preserve A9 at this point. I guess I'll try that?

Yes, restore NAND and make sure that your version string says "Sys" before you update. (An official system would actually say "Ver")

Restored with hourglass 9, got to update successfully, and finished the guide. Need to get apps on here, and see about transferring my save files for alpha sapphire, and Pokemon sun, and then also the added files to enable GW support, and I should be good to go.

Oh... about this NTR thing... is that the only CFW that can do the broadcasting of gameplay audio and video? I'm admittedly very interested in getting that to work on here, so I can start broadcasting gameplay footage. :D

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
