You might have heard that several addendum patches on ROMhacking.net were taken down due to license issues.

Out of them, the Fluffy Repair Service for Kirby's Dream Land DX and the Protech Bug Eraser for Snoopy's Magic Show DX are no longer available for download - it's a cold shower for the whole colorization scene!
Wait, you haven't been banned yet...?

This is the exact post which lists them:
https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=33121.msg440433#msg440433

I'll re-share them here just in case:

An off-forum user (Pelkia) has the complete Minucce Github collection.

It's sad to see that minucce decided to delist his hacks, he was an amazing romhacker and had such incredible knowledge, he helped me out with both NES Zelda Reduxes projects, sad to see him go from the romhacking scene :(

Agree, I remember he even helped you finishing the Wrecking Crew '98 English translation.

He helped me wrap up almost all of the hacks I had with bugs or things to be done.
He helped fix the final bug of Wrecking Crew 98, also helped to implement the dripping blood for the title screen of Super Castlevania IV Uncensored and the optional Whip sound, and he also helped with the amazing code to have both Zelda 1 and 2 have a copy-erase system for their Save Files, and then the diagonal sword swing for Zelda 1.
I have nothing but the utter most respect for the guy, and my gratitude to his help is unmeasurable.

I can't really call this hack a colorization, since all it does is actually rearranging the attributes for the palette (which you get when playing this game on a Game Boy Color) to make it closer to the NES version. In fact it works on all Game Boy consoles, DMG included.

I'll just wait for a proper DX hack done with ASM, if someone will ever want to do one.

Fair enough but they stated that it's a "Lazy DX" hack in the description and I'd still prefer this over what the GBC (emulator) does by default to the base game. ;)

I know right?
I still hope that somebody will make a real DX hack of this game, it’s one of the many included in my wishlist.

That's odd. I always thought there's no difference between the extensions .gb and .gbc as the emulator decides based on the rom data what to do with it. At least that's what I read a few times.
Based on that I always renamed the patched DX hacks of things like SML 1 & 2, Wario Land and so on to *.gbc (because for me they were GBC games and if it doesn't matter, I can name them whatever I want).
However, with this "lazy" Yoshi hack it's interesting that it in fact does not work if renamed to .gbc (it launches in monochrome that way in both, Gambatte and mGBA). But if renamed to .gb, it indeed launches with the GBC BIOS and has the colors as in the screenshots on romhacking.net

I think I understand why. This LDX hack is just a force swap of palettes the GBC would be able to use in a GB game. By renaming it to GBC, the emulator thinks it's a GBC game and doesn't apply the color palettes as it thinks, the game already has colors applied by itself. Dunno if that makes sense.

If playing DX hacks on an emulator, it will detect automatically what kind of ROM it is (like on VBA-M) and lets the game run even if the extension isn't changed to .gbc. This already worked for me.

However, if playing these on real hardware, then it must be changed to .gbc, as the flashcart might recognize it as a standard Game Boy ROM and cause it to run in monochrome with glitches all around. Or in the case of Mega Man World 5 DX, throw up the typical error message.
