You helped MigSwitch to improve their firmware but you work in retail? You should get a developer job mate! :)
What did you do exactly for them?
I thought the same. Not only because of this MiG Flash thing, but because I thought @TotalJustice was in fact a developer. Maybe he/she likes it the way it is. But definitely, if he/she is a developer he/she could get such a job.

About what he/she did for them, well, he/she actually gave a few details here in the threads, that should be enough for the MiG Team to fix the issues. But maybe there was more close help involved.

For a moment I was disappointed TotalJustice would help them, but I guess Mig just read their posts in here.

Pretty lame to associate their name with Migs product, making them a potential target of Nintendo.

Your right your opinion is useless. For everyone else there are many reasons to have this. It's just not for you so buh...bye...
sorry for my bad english.. but u understand what i say... is opinion. Why use migswitch on switch2? for risk the ban? Today we can play switch 1 games in lot of ways... modern cartridge (like switch 1 use) is new and probably u not have problem for read it on switch 1 for ages... this site not condone piracy if i remember right...

It's probably more common than you think. I worked repairing brass music instruments for a long ass time, even when JKSM was in its heyday on 3DS. I'm just getting out of it now. Hopefully @TotalJustice follows soon. Seeing "in retail" in that post threw me for a second. Then again, I don't have much to talk about. It's a major reason why JKSV is getting rewritten in modern C++ and cleaner... So I don't have to go back to fixing fucking french horns and stupid instruments that aren't electric guitars.

I would guess that most of the "developers" here are doing it as a hobby or as something we want but also share it with others. It's often hard to monetize a hobby even if one is good at it. There's also the difference between understanding a single niche thing really well and being able to apply that skillset and mindset to something that an employer might want you to do full time.

I have a question about the MIG dumps.

I have dumped lots of original cartridge games with my original switch to nsp format (with atmosphere and nxdumptool). I would like to play those games with the mig on my switch 2. I have read that the risk of being banned has been lowered with v1.2.1.

Will I be able to use them with the Mig Module? In the screenshots here, I saw that .xci files are used. Will I have to convert them all to .xci format? Would it be safer to redump them with the MIG flasher hardware?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean, but if anything, it shows we can adapt well. I've written C/C++ programs for PSP, PS3, PS4, PC, 3DS, and the Switch. The PSP and PS3 ones are lost to time though (RIP pspupdates/QJ.net), but just the fact we take these community built, sort-of hacked together dev kits, often with extremely poor documentation, and produce what we do says something for us, I'd hope. I'd think it's better than taking some 3 month dev bootcamp, having some barebones HTML, CSS, and Javascript crammed down our throats with a heaping helping of faking it till you make it through interviews. At least I have more than cookie cutter tutorial projects on my Git.

That's just me though. Really trying to change my outlook on this stuff.

I think I was trying to point out that sometimes it's hard to take the skill, knowledge, and care that you apply to your community projects and apply/make a career out of it. Not to say it can't be done, but isn't always as easy as it seems. The car analogy would be an enthusiast that loves working on their own stuff and maybe even similar vehicles for friends but still would struggle to open a full on service center and might be unhappy working for a corporate service center.

seeing 1.2.1 is released, i'll start using it on my Switch2 and take a risk to see if i'll be banned. i used 1.2 for a couple days but then stopped for about 2 weeks now as the bans were being reported. will report back

My theory for bans.

Been using 1.2.0 up until yesterday, no ban so far.

Nah im 250-ish way done for a 480-ish physical collection.
Having to redump them again ... well it would take some time.
But I'll see if their chat can give a conclusive answer.

Forgot to say now on 1.2.1.

I am on airplane mode, and will continue to be unless I need a game update.

Will keep updated may even leave in online mode, won't be playing any illegal games, only my own dumps, may try MK8 online at some point.

You're going to have to re-dump your cartridges. It’s very likely you didn’t dump them with the necessary certificates. And converting from NSP to XCI will only make the situation worse (if it’s even possible.)

Should we use MiG Dumper box or homebrew for getting good dumps ?

No. Mig does not support NSP and XCI (without bin files) formats . Only the XCI+BIN format can be run on Mig.

It doesn't matter. Both types of dumps (trimmed and untrimmed) work fine on the MIG.

Did we ever get an answer to if the Switch 2 bans were before or after the update?
Every single one so far was before the Mig FW update.

Same. Im on 1.2.1 ATM, playing all my own dumps. No ban. I waited till 1.2 came out before trying it in the S2.

Anyone get errors with the new mig firmware? I was testing 1.2.1 on my switch 1 and it gave me the card could not be read error as I was changing between games, always as I was changing to (torrent) mario kart 8. No big deal, i deleted it and it hasn't done it since.

Slim have you gotten any errors?

I am also getting the same error. Idk what triggers the error, seems like it triggers randomly
