So just curious. This allows me to load homebrew. But what kind of homebrew should I use? Is there some kind of custom firmware to install using this? I actually have a dsi, but haven't used it since 2010 when my flash card stopped working. So I'm just kinda lost about what can be done at this point. :ninja:
https://dsi.cfw.guide/, now with a dsi you can boot games from the sd card slot, same goes for dsiwares, load native dsi homebrews and other stuff directly from the sd card. Also there's a cfw that runs on the sd card for it (not at the levels of the 3ds tho)

Oh wow I had no idea. I stopped paying attention once I got my NDS flashcart working on a 3DS but it would be nice to revisit my DSi XL and load up a 32 GB card or something.

So can we run backups off the SD card as opposed to a flashcart with this?
It has already been possible since almost 1 year, but before to mod the system, an exploitable dsiware was needed, the most recent one was flipnote studio, but some consoles didn't have it by default, and even if it was free, with teh servers shut down, it was no longer possible to download it. With this instead, every conosle can be exploited as the camera app is installed by default on every system

Does not seem to work with my 1.4.5 JPN DSi. I have hbmenu 0.7.1 as boot.nds in my SD root dir, pit.bin in sd:/private/ds/app/484E494A, open the camera app, go to SD and then album and it just opens the album screen.
Tested in my virgin, previously unhacked pink and recently updated to 1.4.5J regular DSi I got from Japan and worked fine. Here's the folder structure of the SD before inserting it to the console:

EDiT: I got the boot.nds (hbmenu) and fwTool.nds files from the Flipnote Lenny release.

Thanks for this info. I'll try this out later and see if its functional after my system charges. :)

Memory Pit is a new DSi exploit in the DSi camera!
Using it is very simple:
1) Download the attached file and put it in sd:/private/ds/app/484E494A
2) Put the hbmenu.nds file on the root named boot.nds (can't be unlaunch, it won't work. Unlaunch can be booted via hbmenu however)
3) open DSi camera, tap SD card at the top, and tap album
4) Done!

Enjoy modding your DSi!
I am new to this hack what does "Put it on the the root" mean and where can I find this hbmenu.nds file? Is there a video tutorial anywhere?

use this https://dsi.cfw.guide/ to hack your DSi

with that you should be able to install this V

https://gbatemp.net/threads/ds-i-3d...-ds-i-games-and-ds-i-menu-replacement.472200/

this allows you to play roms off the sd card and many many more things.

the end.

It doesn't matter if there is no point in it, I would like to do it. so the question remains yes or no?
I can't find any guide online for doing that, so it's up to you and if you want to experiment with it.
I really recommend that you try messing with the SDNAND Hiya uses, instead of trying it directly on the actual DSi NAND, because experimenting with the DSi NAND Is a guaranteed way to brick irrecoverably (not even unlaunch will save you)

Don't know if this has been mentioned already, but if you haven't done the initial DSi Camera hand holding tutorial, you need to complete that first. If you add the pit.bin before the tut finished, it will say it's corrupted and "fix" it.

Time to update my console. I downgraded to install hiya now I’ll upgrade again.
too bad i bricked my by accident
I did the same while messing with my nand. I ended up buying another dsi that had broken screens, then motherboard swapped them. I found a broken dsi cheaper than the actual motherboard alone. $15 dollar fix

Memory Pit does work! However, I can't install HiyaCFW. I get to part 9 of the installation guide, and get this error. Everything I've tried so far has not fixed it. I've held onto the NAND in case there's ever a solution for this. Frustrating, but c'est la vie.
