Memory Pit is a new DSi exploit in the DSi camera!
Using it is very simple:
1) Download the attached file and put it in sd:/private/ds/app/484E494A
2) Put the hbmenu.nds file on the root named boot.nds (can't be unlaunch, it won't work. Unlaunch can be booted via hbmenu however)
3) open DSi camera, tap SD card at the top, and tap album
4) Done!

Enjoy modding your DSi!
Holy crap the hype is real!!
Looking forward for a technical explaination (although I'm sure I won't understand anything :P)

I apologize for the dumb noob question: what will this exploit allow me to do that I can’t do with my DSTwo?
The DStwo doesn't run in DSi mode; that means no DSi physical games (nothing practically runs them yet, however), mostly no commercial DSiWare, and no DSi homebrew
A modded DSi (regardless of the initial entrypoint you use - MemoryPit, flipnote-lenny, ugopwn, hardmod, ...) is an excellent option for the latter two

Thanks for the response!

Are there any good DSi home brews?

What format are commercial DSiWare? Are those also .nds? Can you just launch them from HBM?

I don't really know of any - there certainly are dual-mode homebrews with actual benefits (like certain emulators) as well as system tools that only really make sense on DSi (Unlaunch, Hiya, JeffRulz's title installer, nds-bootstrap) but nothing that screams, even by 2009 standards, BUY A DSi NOW (that would be the select+volume brightness adjustment at any time ;) )

I doubt the HBMenu supports them, but (Unlaunch/the official DSi Menu/twilightmenu++ acting in this case as a frontend unlaunch) do!

.nds, .srl (official extension, also used for GBA), .dsi, .app (depending on context) all are "acceptable" extensions for a DSi application
(they of course are just three letters at the end of a filename with no intrinsic effect)
The actual DSi file format is an extension of the DS one (both documented in "gbatek" if you'd like to learn the technical differences) :)

Phones worked great for DS emulation with DraStic and a controller that held your phone
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
But sadly that's coming to an end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, atleast I think the latest version's apk is archived somewhere

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah it works great but it's the obvious Ds factor you loose from it it's not like playing atari games on atari because Nintendo actually use to give a reason to buy their hardware

Honestly Ken I actually have the hardware and it's hacked and works fine, prefer my phone lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Microphone is more sensitive, DraStic has a high res mode, screen is way better just overall a better experience
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I just like game consoles how they were intended to play if they have a unique enough reason to buy them anything else yeah just download emulation for it

I used a vertical touch 22" monitor for playing some 3DS games through Citra.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Can't be that far off from it not like ds requires super hardware
  • HiradeGirl @ HiradeGirl:
@K3Nv2 I did that using Citra for 3DS games. Bottom screen was my smartphone. Until I got the touch screen.
  • SwordShielder @ SwordShielder:
    Use a TV
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    Citra allows it already?
  • HiradeGirl @ HiradeGirl:
    Yes.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Ken I have that sort of set up on Drastic on Pi for games that don't require touch
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Looks nice too
  • HiradeGirl @ HiradeGirl:
Any TV with your PC connected with Citra and any smartphone to use as a screen using a free play store app.
