Foe me it's not necessarily "Not another live-action Resident Evil movie!", but more "Not another live-action Resident Evil movie that is absolutely nothing like the games!" Regarding Cregger, I enjoyed Weapons but thought Barbarian was garbage.

The director has stated in an interview that this film won't feature any of the canonical characters from the game, so take that how you will.

I'll take it that it will suck as hard as the Jovovich movies in the aspect of not being anything like the games.

On one hand people won't complain about casting and costuming and dialog and changes to /omissions of setpieces and cutscenes from the game so that's good. On the other hand... characters and setpieces are the only thing RE games have going for them FIGHT ME. The worldbuilding is all over the place.

Great, lets ruin another video game adaptation for the movies. Remember what they did to the Silent Hill 2 movie aka Return To Silent Hill. There has been soo much character development for the main characters in the Resident Evil games, so excluding characters like Leon Kennedy or Claire Redfield is a terrible choice. However, I rather liked some of the Resident Evil animated films as those were quite good. It's not impossible to make a good RE movie. Honestly, from what I have seen from the trailer I didn't like any of it. Of course, this is just my opinion other opinions are welcome.

And here we go with another movie made only for Sony keep the rights to the franchise.

The sad part is that I liked the trailer way more than I believed I would. The only problem is the "Resident Evil" name slapped in it.

Agreed! Well even without the Resident Evil name/brand slapped onto it I think it looks like a 4 out of 10 rating. I will be watching the movie though but I won't like it. You know whats good? some of the new predator movies. I rather enjoyed prey and Predator Killer Of Killers. The killer of killers Predator I watched it. It's a great anime movie if you haven't already saw it I recommend it.

Gotta agree with you, they are really in the right way with the franchise. And talking about Predator, I heavily recommend Predator: Badlands, amazing movie.

I'll be honest, I forgot what I was watching and thought the trailer was for a new Silent Hill movie  Until the very end when the nurse says "Raccoon City" and I was like oh yeeeeah, wrong franchise.

Rotten Tomatoes rating for this is currently at 96%, while Metacritics score currently at 80.

I saw it yesterday at an early screening, and it was very much unlike any of the previous RE movies; I suspect people are going to either absolutely love it or absolutely hate it.

Just thought that I would give my 2 cents again. We all know that Hollywood has a bad history of making awful video game to movie adaptations. I haven't watched barbarian or weapons yet but before this new RE movie came out I for sure figured it would be as bad as the new Return To Silent Hill movie. I honestly would love to be proven wrong and its amazing how many people gamers and non gamers alike enjoyed and had nothing but good things to say about the film. Its IMDB page has a rating score of 7.7 at the time of me writing this. Can anyone who actually saw the film (no spoilers please) tell me if its worth a watch? Thanks. =)
