Use NUSgrabber to get the 5.5.1 update files on your PC (?)
can't find the option to download update files using NUSgrabber (though I'm using NEW-NUSGrabberGUI, but should be no different right?)
unlike 3DNUS where you can simply type the firmware version to download 3DS update files

edit
just remembered that NUSgrabber is the command line version
so I suppose I can just download all titles here https://yls8.mtheall.com/ninupdates/titlelist.php?date=01-11-16_07-05-20&sys=wup&reg=E&soap=1&csv=1 using the command line?

My Wii U is currently on the version 5.5.0. Everyone is saying to update to 5.5.1, but iirc there were not major differences between these updates (something with the web exploit I think). Advice in the past has been to stay on the lowest firmware as possible. Should I go ahead and update from 5.5.0->5.5.1? Any advice is appreciated. :)

While there's practically not any difference between 5.5.0 and 5.5.1 (only the web browser was updated), I would update if I were you. You will gain eShop access without spoofing, and the IOSU exploit will work perfectly on it (if it's released).

I'll quote myself for 2 page back:
if you want to know which files were updated from one version to another, you can look here :
https://wii.marcan.st/wiimpersonator/reports/wiiu/
5.3.2 : Dec-2014
5.4.0 : Jun-2015
5.5.0 : Aug-2015
5.5.1 : jan-2016

you have all the titleID for each update.

use nusgrabber.exe <titleID>
it will download the latest version only, so if the file were updates twice, and you want to keep each version separated, you would have to specify the version in decimal.

edit : if NUSGrabber is not working (seems it's often not working), you can use JNUStool, example for EUR wiiU Menu :
java -jar "JNUSTool v1.2.jar" 0005001010040200 -dlEncrypted

edit2 : seems not all titles are working. JNUstool 1.2 is crashing with title 00050010-10041200
maybe I have an old JNUStool version

so I've looked at the link that you posted, it only has iterative changes from the previous fw right?

if we were to download update files to be used for upgrade fw, shouldn't it be safer to just download all titles for that specific version? (based on experience upgrading 3ds fw using cia, I believe 3dnus download all titles and the cia installer can just skip titles that already installed in the 3ds)

Probably already been said, but right now, you have easy access right now to update your system to 5.5.1 via the system's own update function. If/Once Nintendo puts out the next system update, that option is lost. Is there really anything to lose by updating? I don't recall anything important to the common user requiring anything below 5.5.1. I've been on 5.5.1 for a while.

If I update to 5.5.1, will it be just as easy to access Loadiine like on 5.3.2, which is to go to any homepage hosting the exploit?

It would be handy if someone on FW532 could update via wupinstaller and this method just to make sure it works ok, that's of course your going to update regardless, that would be really good and helpful for the community!. NUS Grabber works fine and if you decrypt it you get a code & content folder with a .bin file in the content folder and I presume that .bin file in content is version 551. Yes your write buddy EUR is 0005001010041200 for anyone wanting to be sure.

You can't simply update with nus grabber. You will be patching them in the nand. Your soon to be "iosu" exploit will have nand access. Which means someone will have to write and nand patcher and someone will have to play with the update files to force the update. This meaning nand writing. Which is why it will have big risks of brick.
If you haven't updated your console then you really should before they release. As the official update will move to 6.?.? and when you update even from 5.3.2 it will force the latest. Which I am sure will patch an "IOSU" exploit and probably the webkit exploit. And if done properly further firmware hacks will be shut down for more years. So, with complete access you will be able to patch IOS with fake update and remain online, but that will be released on 5.5.1.
Just update and be glad you did.
I would hate to read later that users didn't update and ruined their console attempting nand patching for update purposes.

Thanks. I've actually gone and done it now after a lot of thinking and reading other peoples comments so no turning back! Also thinking hard about it there is no real difference staying on 532 than being on 551 so no point holding back I suppose.

this better be real, because i just updated, reset the browser and made sure it ran the payload properly. actually surprised by how stable and fast it seemed to run after we have been given the "STAY ON 5.3.2 OR DIE PUTA MADRE!!!" tinfoil hat.

I guess there are different nusgrabber version and I used the wrong one. it just does nothing.

so I've looked at the link that you posted, it only has iterative changes from the previous fw right?
It has the list of changed or added titles since the previous update version.
(don't look at the bottom where you have the URL of the updated files only because wiimpersonator is keeping cache of old downloaded files and skip them)

3DNUS can get all of the updated files at once when providing a version number, but NUSgrabber or Jnustool doesn't have that option and you can only grab files one at a time.
You already have the previous files (firmware 1.0 to 5.3.2) so you don't need to download them. The wii and WiiU don't download them again either, it only get the latest version for each updated titles.
You can achieve the same by grabbing the files in reverse release date order up to your current console version.

a WiiU version to automate system file download could be created. using the 3DS tools as base shouldn't be difficult.

edit:
this is the one I couldn't get from JNUStool : 0005001b-10059200
it says UTF8 error. I'll check if I have the latest version and report the error in the official thread.
edit2: I reported it to maschell.

Yeah, not had one fail out of 25 or so boot attempts on 5.5.1 payloads so far.
