Hacking M3i alternative?

Ok, preorder 2 m3i zero's and after multiple attempts to upgrade to 1.4 all I get is a continuous flashing light even after trying different f_core files from gbatemp and handheld sources.

which is the best alternative or should I give another m3i a try?

please don't blame the cart as i have the same cart (m3i) and it has served me VERY well in fact i find it to be the best flash cart out at the moment (just my opinion) we need specific details of your problem before we can try and solve it
