With a Switch 2 reveal hopefully on the horizon, the question is how much will Nintendo ask for the base model at launch and what will their launch offerings be?

Analysts have previously predicted that the Switch 2 will be somewhat of an iterative upgrade, which would be unlike Nintendo's past strategies that famously involved a radical new approach such as the dual screen Nintendo DS, Wii with its motion controls as well as the dual screen Wii U to name just a few. But if we know Nintendo then we're sure there will be a curve ball somewhere in the mix!

While an initial price of $400 USD was also previously estimated, the recent surge in component prices as well as the general cost of living; could we perhaps be looking at at $450-500 USD handheld from Nintendo?

Also, what of the launch titles and offerings? How will Nintendo sell and promote the Switch 2? What games will be available at launch? Will we see a new Mario title ready for launch or perhaps Metroid Prime 4 with Switch 2 enhancements? These are all questions that we're eager to know the answer to.

To take a look back; the Switch released back in March of 2017 at a suggested MSRP $299.99 in the United States, £279.99 in the United Kingdom, and $469.95 in Australia with similar regional pricing across EU regions. It launched alongside the critically acclaimed TLOZ: BOTW as well as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a month later with other heavy hitters such as Super Mario Odyssey coming later that same year. It was a hugely successful launch but was plagued with supply issues, scalpers following the huge demand. The success of the Switch helped bounce Nintendo back to fame after the poorly received Wii U.

Honestly Nintendo has always been known to have the somewhat cheaper consoles at the cost of performance. I mean if I recall correctly, the Switch launched with hardware that was already fairly out of date but that didn't bother Nintendo. I don't see this thing launching at any more than 399$, and there's no way it's going to be 299$ like the Switch was. We'll see, and maybe the "Switch 2" will cost more (no way it's gonna be less) but I don't see it being too crazy expensive. Especially if it's still portable.

While details are still under wraps, it sounds like they’re aiming to deliver some innovative features that could really shake up the gaming landscape.

Here are my predictions:

• Name - The name is a hard one, Nintendo has a tendency to name their consoles in the most idiotic way (Wii U is best example), so to that maybe something like the Click or some shit like that, but then again they could also just name it Switch 2 or Switch Pro, and if compatibility with the Switch 1 is a thing, then it will most likely keep the Switch naming convention somehow.
• Launch price (base model) - $350 USD, I don't see them going higher and lower is hard given how much more expensive electronics are becoming. $400 is a stretch but might be a possibility.
• Release date - March 2025, I am guessing perhaps March 3rd or some time in the 20s of March.
• Launch titles (launch window) - A port of one of the Switch Zeldas to it, most likely Breath of the Wild or TotK, or maybe even both with one being on launch and the 2nd coming later, Metroid Prime 4 for sure, and some other 3rd party AAA titles, like some RE games, or others.
• Any other predictions - Hard to know with Nintendo here as well, but I can see them playing around with the docked/handheld system a bit more, perhaps even an app that can be launched on Smart TVs that can be controlled with the console while handheld, that would be neat.

I do think that name likely would be Nintendo Switch II.

Price is likely $399 (US dollar) in case if Nintendo want larger storage size.

The launch game would be Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Visions of Mana, Kingdom Hearts Collection (no more cloud gaming), Resident Evil 7 + Resident Evil Village bundle (no cloud gaming), Grand Theft Auto V and Tales of Arise.

It is likely release in Fall 2025, probably in November.

Nintendo rarely release more than one major title at launch, so I went with one major title - Metroid.

Switch II would have PS4 level graphic, new compression method to allow smaller game size, likely to retain the plastic screen rather than glass that used in smartphones, Joy Con likely to stay or upgrade to better, comfortable one, 7" 1080p screen, 256 GB storage, backward compatibility with Switch games and likely use same game card.

Name : Considering the failure of the Wii U due to a failure in advertisement, I think Nintendo will be scared to go for "Switch 2", especially since Nintendo is not known for naming their consoles like that. I will stand by my initial choice and go with Super Nintendo Switch
Launch price : Right now, the Nintendo Switch OLED is priced at 349$ in the US. To make a small gap there, I think they will price their base model at 449$
Release date : Do we even have any valid information about a potential reveal coming soon? I'd say, IF they reveal it really soon (in september), then, following their previous pattern (with Wii U, Wii and NDS), it's gonna be on the third sunday of november, which will be on November 17th.
Launch titles : Going by the list of recent games announced, I would say TLoZ : Echoes of wisdom, Mario & Luigi : Brothership, Super Mario Party : Jamboree, Paper Mario : The Thousand Year Door, Probably bring the remakes of Metroid Prime 1-2-3. As for the launch windows (within 3 months) I would see Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon Legends Z-A (early 2025), Super Mario Odyssey 2, Probably an Hyrule Warrior, probably a Mario Kart, and a Kirby game, and maybe Breath of the Wild in 4k. There will surely be other third party games, but I am not very aware of these (when I buy a Nintendo Console, it's always for the first-party games)
Other predictions : I would say full backward compatibility, as in the cartridge reader would read both Switch and Super Nintendo Switch cartrigdge (probably that the SNS will have a small bump on the edge, like with the 3DS). Another VERY wild prediction, even if I think it's rather hope than prediction, is that the dock will have a integrated GPU, so that you can play well in 1080p when portable and have extra power to play well in 4K when docked.

$500, every company in the world is taking advantage of inflation from covid still to this day, no reason to think Nintendo will do any different.

People are squeezed for money like never before yet companies want to take more of people's money that they don't have. I think sales started to reflect this some during PS5 era, we will see if it continues.

I mean Sony was arrogant enough to charge $700 for a Pro that has no disc drive when the original PS5 with no disc drive was $399. That's a 75% price increase for what some slighty higher resolution capability and maybe a slightly more powerful console that will play the same games as the original? (I'm assuming they won't try to put games exclusively on Pro to piss people off further.)

Price wise I am definitely thinking $400 minimum. Nintendo has never liked to sell hardware at a loss so I don't see them doing that. Though I feel if they reveal soon the price will be received well after Sony's blunder yesterday.

Definitely an 8 core SOC of some kind, i'm not going to even try to predict things like clockspeeds with how heavily they underclocked the base switch.

RAM: 8GB LPDDR5, Knowing Nintendo I doubt they'll go for LPDDR5X, or if they do it won't be clocked at its maximum speed.
Battery: 18WH
Display: 4K 60hz output, 120HZ support, 1080 60 internal display
Storage: 128GB or 256GB options.
Games: 128GB Cartridges, probably in the same shape as the Switch carts except with a side tab so they can't be inserted into a regular switch.
