L4T Lakka Switch - now with audio and Vulkan

Lakka Switch, L4T edition
I am proud to finally release the L4T version of Lakka Switch!
New kernel, new logo, new drivers, audio... everything is fresh and clean.

Did I mention Rayman 3 was full speed on Dolphin? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

General system updates
  • New Linux kernel and underlying operating system, based on Linux4Tegra and Jetson Nano drivers
    • mainline kernel has been deprecated
    • system features should now be on par with the L4T Ubuntu distribution, except for dock support
    • Bluetooth was lost in the battle and needs some rest to come back stronger
  • aarch64 is now the default and mainly supported architecture
    • arm has been deprecated since L4T doesn't support it
  • New logo made with the help of jaames and the R:S community
New features and improvements
  • Audio now works through the internal speakers and headphones
  • The new GPU driver supports both Vulkan and OpenGL
  • RAM is now locked at full speed (1600Mhz), was 800MHz before
  • The system is now way more stable and should boot for everyone with a decent SD card (no more black screen of death)
  • RetroArch has been updated to add menu widgets (fancy onscreen notifications)
  • Overclock profiles have been updated :
    • Renamed all profiles
    • Added more overclock profiles
    • Added underclock profiles
New cores
  • mupen64plus-next (N64 emulator)
    • The core is full speed, even on aarch64 thanks to the new dynarec
    • Includes the updated version of the GlideN renderer
  • picodrive (various Sega consoles)
    • The core replaces Genesis Plus GX (Game Gear support has been dropped)
  • Beetle PSX HW (PSX emulator with OpenGL and Vulkan renderer)
    • The core performs worse than PCSX ReARMed for now, even with Vulkan
  • reicast (Dreamcast emulator)
    • The core is full speed on all commercial games, no visual glitches
    • The OIT renderer works (better accuracy), speed is still good on 1x resolution
    • The core needs the Dreamcast BIOS files to be placed in /lakka/storage/system/DC
    • WinCE games are currently not supported - there is a WinCE version of the reicast core in the works but the aarch64 dynarec is too slow for the games to be playable (for now)
  • Yaba Sanshiro (Saturn emulator)
    • The core is full speed on all commercial games
    • Yabause and Kronos were also added but both perform worse than Yaba Sanshiro
  • theodore (Thomson MO/TO emulator)
Updated cores
  • Dolphin : Vulkan support
    • With Vulkan, Dolphin runs decently - some games are playable, some are full speed... see for yourself, try it and experiment with different games and settings!
  • PCSX ReARMed : Switch optimizations and CHD support
  • PPSSPP : doesn't crash anymore when closing content
Removed cores
  • mupen64plus
  • parallel-n64
  • Genesis Plus GX
  • Ishiiruka
    • It might come back once the core is updated with the (beta) Vulkan renderer
Credits
  • Kernel and drivers work: NVIDIA, switchroot team (especially ByLaws and langerhans)
  • Lakka Switch work: natinusala and plaidman
  • RetroArch, original Lakka distribution: libretro team
  • mupen64plus-next: Gillou and m4xw
  • PCSX ReARMed: Switch optimizations by m4xw, CHD support by aliaspider
  • Dolphin core: aliaspider
  • reicast core: flyinghead

Please note that you can't dual boot Ubuntu and Lakka Switch for now (it will always boot Ubuntu).

Has anyone had soft audio issues on dreamcast or gamecube games? Any tweaks
I have a lot of crackling (for lack of a better word) when I try to play Twilight Princess (GCN version) on Dolphin, but I haven't found a way around this. The same issue happens from time to time on Wind Waker, although a lot less. It appears to happen when there are performance drops. Not sure if it this was the issue you were talking about though

PPSSPP ON Lakka is faster than Horizon build, while PSX and N64 are faster on Horizon.

Is pretty common fact that emulation for all consoles is better in Lakka, Golden eye doesn't run well at all in horizon(N64). Lakka's OS is better designed for emulation. Every game I've run in Lakka N64 so far runs pretty much full speed stock CPU. If your getting better results in horizon, your probably not using Lakka to its full potential. This isn't an opinion either it has been quoted by developers working on porting emulators across.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

In Dolphin I'm getting really choppy audio, even though the game is running at full speed (Paper Mario TTYD)
Is there any tips on how to tweak the audio to be better?

The choppy audio is with the current dolphin build Lakka uses. I'm pretty sure the core Lakka uses atm for dolphin is a pretty old one.

Quick and dirty question,
I got Lakka to boot, Baten Kaitos on gamecube working with the Dolphin Core but I am having trouble transferring the save from PC to Lakka...
I copied the memorycard.raw to the GC directory but it doesn't work, any idea ? Thanks !

In order to use your saves you'll have to do a few things. First off, use the Dolphin emulator and go to "Tools > Memory Card Manager (GC)". From there open up your memorycard.raw and export your .gci files. After that drag and drop your .gci files to your micro sd card "Lakka > Storage > savefiles > User > GC > (select the region of the game) > Card A". You should be good to go after that.

Wind Waker works fantastically with a few tweaks, bit of a slowdown in certain areas like the forsaken fortress but nothing that keeps you from progressing.

Friendly warning not to use the picobox as it crashes the system (learned the hard way, wish I had saved before)
can you tell me your settings

I'm not sure if it's been answered but are we able to use cheats with the Dolphin core? I specifically want to use cheats for PSO ep. 1 & 2 Plus. I've just been transferring my save from my Switch to PC to do what I need to do in Dolphin but it's rather tedious.

Have you tried to connect to an online server? Like shctserv? It's my dream to play PSO online on the switch but I'm not super switch homebrew savvy

I googled before asking but couldn't find the solution, probably poor choice of keywords :)

Not life changing but this helps a little bit. You can boot to Lakka from homebrew menu. Saves you the trouble of having to shutdown the switch and send the payload to boot to Lakka. I have Hekate options set to auto boot Lakka so I can get straight into Lakka from the Homebrew menu. Works on any CFW.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/fusee-starter-launch-payloads-from-hbl.533211/

Now if we can just get docked + boot to CFW from Lakka, we'd be set.

That's been around a few months I just barely discovered it, and thought maybe someone else might want to use it.

I haven't tried yet, I'm not entirely sure if Lakka can go online with Dolphin yet. To my knowledge it's not possible though I'm going to give it a shot this weekend. I would LOVE to be able to play PSO on a private server from the comfort of my Switch but I'm okay playing PSOBB on Ephinea for all of my online cravings.

Thanks, it worked !

Oh awesome! I'm glad that I could be of some help!

Pro controllers don't work with this, neither does docked. Only way is having the switch in handheld with the joycons attached.
Updates: I was able to get to the settings Core/Gamecube Wii/Dolphin. I tested The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, what settings of Overclock and GPU I need to set it up so it can run the best performance now?

i can't run any dreamcast game with lakka, while with stand alone reicast all runs good. I put the bios files in /lakka/storage/system/DC and roms (i tried both cdi and gdi) in lakka/storage/roms/downloads, loaded reicast core but when i try to launch game i get "failed to load content". Has anyone have any idea about what's happening?
Thank you
