Lakka Switch, L4T edition
I am proud to finally release the L4T version of Lakka Switch!
New kernel, new logo, new drivers, audio... everything is fresh and clean.

Did I mention Rayman 3 was full speed on Dolphin? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

General system updates
  • New Linux kernel and underlying operating system, based on Linux4Tegra and Jetson Nano drivers
    • mainline kernel has been deprecated
    • system features should now be on par with the L4T Ubuntu distribution, except for dock support
    • Bluetooth was lost in the battle and needs some rest to come back stronger
  • aarch64 is now the default and mainly supported architecture
    • arm has been deprecated since L4T doesn't support it
  • New logo made with the help of jaames and the R:S community
New features and improvements
  • Audio now works through the internal speakers and headphones
  • The new GPU driver supports both Vulkan and OpenGL
  • RAM is now locked at full speed (1600Mhz), was 800MHz before
  • The system is now way more stable and should boot for everyone with a decent SD card (no more black screen of death)
  • RetroArch has been updated to add menu widgets (fancy onscreen notifications)
  • Overclock profiles have been updated :
    • Renamed all profiles
    • Added more overclock profiles
    • Added underclock profiles
New cores
  • mupen64plus-next (N64 emulator)
    • The core is full speed, even on aarch64 thanks to the new dynarec
    • Includes the updated version of the GlideN renderer
  • picodrive (various Sega consoles)
    • The core replaces Genesis Plus GX (Game Gear support has been dropped)
  • Beetle PSX HW (PSX emulator with OpenGL and Vulkan renderer)
    • The core performs worse than PCSX ReARMed for now, even with Vulkan
  • reicast (Dreamcast emulator)
    • The core is full speed on all commercial games, no visual glitches
    • The OIT renderer works (better accuracy), speed is still good on 1x resolution
    • The core needs the Dreamcast BIOS files to be placed in /lakka/storage/system/DC
    • WinCE games are currently not supported - there is a WinCE version of the reicast core in the works but the aarch64 dynarec is too slow for the games to be playable (for now)
  • Yaba Sanshiro (Saturn emulator)
    • The core is full speed on all commercial games
    • Yabause and Kronos were also added but both perform worse than Yaba Sanshiro
  • theodore (Thomson MO/TO emulator)
Updated cores
  • Dolphin : Vulkan support
    • With Vulkan, Dolphin runs decently - some games are playable, some are full speed... see for yourself, try it and experiment with different games and settings!
  • PCSX ReARMed : Switch optimizations and CHD support
  • PPSSPP : doesn't crash anymore when closing content
Removed cores
  • mupen64plus
  • parallel-n64
  • Genesis Plus GX
  • Ishiiruka
    • It might come back once the core is updated with the (beta) Vulkan renderer
Credits
  • Kernel and drivers work: NVIDIA, switchroot team (especially ByLaws and langerhans)
  • Lakka Switch work: natinusala and plaidman
  • RetroArch, original Lakka distribution: libretro team
  • mupen64plus-next: Gillou and m4xw
  • PCSX ReARMed: Switch optimizations by m4xw, CHD support by aliaspider
  • Dolphin core: aliaspider
  • reicast core: flyinghead

The Lakka Switch website has been updated with the new version: https://lakka-switch.github.io/documentation/

Please note that you can't dual boot Ubuntu and Lakka Switch for now (it will always boot Ubuntu).

how id you managed to get the controller working? O: im stuck at every wii game on the "PRESS A + B" screen.

First you have to go into the control settings. From there you select the device type for control inputs for user one. It is RetroPad by default which you have to change to WiiMote by pressing right once on the d-pad.

I had the same problem as you when I tried Wii games but fortunately I found this out by accident xD

Will there be more cores coming? Can I download cores from somewhere for this?

I am most interested in ZX spectrum and meo geo.

My understanding is this is pre-compiled so you only get the cores you get. I believe there's a way to compile this yourself I don't know how I'm sure someone does.

I guess I'll have to find a US copy then.

Infact, US games seem to work instantly with Lakka Dolphin. Only EU game I've found to work so far is MKDD.

Thanks for the answer.

That's probably because EU games are PAL, right? Does the Dolphin Emu have a region setting (PAL is lower Hz display wise so emulation might be different?)

This is Ridiculous. If I'm going through three different sd cards that can run other homebrew with no problem that means there's some wrong with lakka.

Lakka isn't homebrew. It's more CFW, that said The whole OS here is loaded off the SD (unlike using Horizon + Homebrew which boots off Nand) Just get a better SD card man.

They have a list asking people if their switch model works with this. It might not be the sd card just some switchs can't boot this right now.

You have a model that doesn't work. You'll have to wait for them to fix it. You're not alone.
I dont have a problem with them trying to fix it but they need to change fromffff4

I'm pretty sure Samsung evo and sandisk ultra are good cards plus even if it's not putting "works on all kinds of sd cards is not the best thing to put there if there's issues.

To anyone who might know: I enabled advanced options then enabled the Shutdown option on the main menu. I tried it out and it seemed to work, because when I pressed the power button again (no RCM/jig) it booted straight into the Switch OS. Is it disabled because it could potentially corrupt things? Or does it not really shut it down properly?

Edit: There was a post on the first page saying that shutdown works fine, just sleep doesn't work. SMH. Ignore this, then.

Has anyone managed to get Contra ReBirth to play on the Dolphin core. It’s freezes on a black screen after title page.
Maybe try with GL driver if you're using Vulkan, or vice-versa? I had weird screen flash problems and bad speed with Geometry Wars Galaxies, but GL for some reason works fine.

slow cards don't load well, this is true for any OS loaded on an SDcard. Ask the rpi forums. Similar results. If you bought an evo online, it might even be fake.

so i am familiar with the RTC issue and i've read it's a simple fix in Horizon settings, but i am still having issues.

i try manually changing the clock to the correct time, which is successful, i guess, but i am still getting an error when opening the browser about security certificates or something.
then i try sync clock using internet and it says the year is 2038.

is there an actual fix for RTC after using l4t?

I got all the files loaded, and after I launch lakka, one of the issues I'm having is that it does not connect to either the joycons nor my Nintendo switch pro controller. I can scroll using the touch screen in Lakka itself though I really don't like it.
I'm using Fat32 CFW latest version of hekate. Can somebody help me with this?

Pro controllers don't work with this, neither does docked. Only way is having the switch in handheld with the joycons attached.

Connecting to the internet without a DNS fixes it for me

Quick and dirty question,
I got Lakka to boot, Baten Kaitos on gamecube working with the Dolphin Core but I am having trouble transferring the save from PC to Lakka...
I copied the memorycard.raw to the GC directory but it doesn't work, any idea ? Thanks !
