The first part of the video is utter bullshit. There are many stages of lucid dreaming, and usually realizing that you're dreaming causes you to awake from it, and...wait. That's not correct. We all dream multiple times a night, but our mind tends to forget anything but the last one (and even then...dreams are often hard to remember if you don't actively try to do it, eg by writing it down).

So not only does it require practice and you will also need to make time to REMEMBER these dreams, in most lucid dreams you don't have complete control over everything. It's one thing to realise you're in a dream, but something completely different to actively steer what's happening to what you want. The few times that I was lucid enough to control my own movements and make an attempt at flying often sort of failed somehow.

and if that first part is bollocks...why should I believe a word of the second part? They don't even have testimonies from witnesses, let alone scientists!

I dunno if you'd trust people claiming to be "experts" on lucid dreaming, but check out Erin Pavlina. She pretty much explains and outlines all the stuff you need to be able to sort of master lucid dreaming, including full control.
*It requires being able to remember dreams, as the more you are able to remember them, the easier you can do the second step.
*It requires being able to "recognize" when you're in a lucid dream. This usually breaks the dream immediately, unless you can:
*Keep calm.
*Control requires pre-programming (planning a dream scenario before having one).

It's mostly "priming" your subconscious to give you what you want, and then training yourself to make the subconscious hand over control to your conscious mind.

A way to figure out if you're in a dream is if you look at the time, then shortly after look at the time again.
If the time is messed up, then you're in a dream. Of course, if you aren't aware that you are dreaming and that you don't have complete control over it, it might be hard to decide "I'll look for a clock and check the time"

Update
Contrary as to what certain people believe, LUCI is a very real project well on its way to becoming the gold standard in lucid dream induction. The device is still scheduled for release in February.

We understand that more than 2500 of you were looking forward to receiving your LUCI and were disappointed when we announced that we found funding elsewhere. That's why we wish to offer you the chance to receive your LUCI at the same date and for same price as we were offering on Kickstarter.

In order for us to estimate the demand, please LIKE this update if you would consider buying a LUCI for $150 when it goes for sale in February.

As somehow who has repeatedly had lucid dreams in which my subconscious literally refused to comply with my wishes and let me take control, I don't think I'll be supporting this Kickstarter. :)

The kickstarter has been cancelled and apparently they have found a private backer. Also a look into the comments show it was very likely fake.

(an aside for if this potentially isn't fake)My main concern with this device is the use of sound to induce lucid dreams. My memory may be a little foggy, but I remember reading somewhere that the use of audio cues to induce lucid dreaming is not effective. Also on the kickstarter page they say:
"It is possible to have lucid dreams without an induction system, but you must be extremely dedicated as techniques include writing down every dream you have, performing "reality checks" all day long, every day, and so on. And even that won't guarantee that you'll start having lucid dreams."
TBH You don't have to be doing RCs "all day every day" but if you aren't doing a handful of these things you are very unlikely to achieve lucidity, even with an induction system.

It doesn't have to be, you can cobble together a device that does what they advertized (read brainwaves, detect patterns, play prerecorded message if certain conditions are met) for under $100. As for whether a device like that would actually induce lucid dreaming is a whole other kettle of fish.

Am I the only one who, when reading the title, thought "Wet dream inducer?" They have a free alternative for that. It's called falling asleep while watching porn online.
