I also believe it will get blocked. But I'm just hoping it gets blocked after the new 3ds xl is launched. I want the newer 3ds. It's way better than the old one. ^^

Don't care about online play. Can stay on 9.0 forever if I have to.

I have the same feelings as you, I care not for online play. Its not like they have servers like microsoft and sony.

how are they supposed to block something emulating an Original Card ?
the only solution for Nintendo that I would see is to use some kind of new Format for new Games which would not work with the current sky3ds ...
like maybe adding in some extra internal storage into new game chips or whatever ...

fi 9.x card are going to be a viable option 3 things need to happen first

1)no 10 game limit
2) 9.x 1:1 clone card with built in ds mode card must be created, so that we can have a ds mode rom menu ,another button perhaps to make the card boot between ds flashcard and 3ds cart emulation mode or just use the same button with long press
3) get the clone card to recognize eshop games as retail carts

I want the newer 3ds. It's way better than the old one. ^^

graphics & games will be on the same level,everything else maybe you can say way better mainly download speed due faster cpu & 3D due to head tracking 3D.

The thing I just now realize is this, will there be a way to update the firmware on the card if there needs? If there are no firmware updates than this seems to be a limited option as this can be blocked.

As we don´t know how Sky emulates cards, we can´t tell as of now, wether or not it can be blocked, so only time will tell.

I suspect It's just a matter of time until It's blocked, but we shall see.

That too. Its pretty much a matter of who gets there first, someone 'unlocking' the SKY3DS' limit or Nintendo blocking it.

It would not suprise me if the Gateway team is holding off on updating their card for that very reason.
Wait till the New 3DS is out - then update the card so its functional on the initial models.
It'll assure them the highest saturation in sales - and all they have to do is wait a bit.

same was said about ODE devices(which have been blocked a few times due to not being 100% perfect in their emulation)....just because it works now doesn't mean nintendo couldn't tighten security checks even on current cards with a FW update i.e requiring authentication to be passed in a certain time frame etc, doesn't mean it would stop working on 9.2 and lower, but until we see how nintendo respond they could potentially block these cards working on newer FW's

only time will tell and assumptions are pointless

People keep saying that this will bomb big time, but I can see how it could have a moderate success. 10 games isn't much, but it's not too little to bother either. That, and nothing else runs on current firmware, so sky3DS does have its advantages. I can only hope that the 10 games limit can be overcome somehow, but even if it can't, it's still a big step forwards from hunting down 4.5 3DS'es. The fact that it runs on the N3DS is also intriguing to me - I wonder if it will support N3DS games.

because, even tho 10 games per card is a HUGE limitation, 9.2-compatiblity will still buy them a hellload of customers, and the hard reality is that this will cost nintendo probably a lot more then gateway does, considering that many people didnt get a flashcard, yet because they are on too high firm

3ds 4.5 still a dime a dozen , the only real advantage is that it runs on the new 3ds , but nobody knows if it will handle new3ds exclusives , or if it even has updateable FW

While for someone that measures against the standard of 'infinite' games per card, 10 game limit seems to be a poor choice.
If you look on the flipside for someone that doesn't own a 4.x system and can't get one (for a low enough price), getting games at $10~ a piece that work on their device is a steal.
And for most of them, they don't really care about homebrew or cheating all that much - they just want to play their Pokemon, Super Mario or Fire Emblem 'now'.

I definitely see the Sky3DS getting some sales, especially once their price drops a bit, if no one else comes out with a better device. Once someone else makes a clone that is capable of overcoming the 10 game limit, the Sky3DS will be a leaf in the wind.
