Gaming Jump Ultimate Stars; Arena troubles

Has anyone ever had hassles with the arena on JUS?
it locks up on me more often than not when it goes to the rankings after a battle, the only way ive been able to make some progress is by using save state.

Im using an untrimmed rom with an english patch on a cyclods.
Im going to try redumping and re-patching, but any feedback from similar issues would be appreciated

I've got some rare cases where it just hangs.

But that's been only twice or something.
