I posed this on the NDS forums but didn't really get alot of replies... hoping to have more luck here...

I have a new 3DS with CFW and Twilight menu ++. I took NeoDs and the neo roms from my DSi and placed them on my 3ds.

In /roms/nds/ I placed NedoDs.nds. I also placed the MAME folder here, even though I also placed it in root.

In the SDcard root, I placed MAME folder and also the neo geo roms in root.

I am able to load NeoDs with no issues from TwiLght menu. And the roms show up successfully. However, when I load a rom it just hangs at the banks message.

Any ideas how to fix?

I have used NeoDS 0.20 with slightly better success. I had to put the .neo roms on root and point the .ini rom path to the root (fat:/). It stalls on "loading banks into main ram" which I suspect is due to the lack of a ramdisk.

That's unrelated. Main RAM is just the first 4MB of RAM of the DS console.

IIRC, NeoDs automatically looks for and applies ram expansion. I don't have the slot2 expansion in my ds lite, so I don't know if it would indicate using expanded ram during the loading sequence as it does with the "main ram" message. Do you think it could be looking to apply expanded ram and causing the hang?

Why would you jump through hoops like this, when we have fbalpha2012-NEOGEO available with RetroArch for 3DS?

Can you explain why stepping backwards?

Just set-up RetroArch next to the dedicated 3DS emulators, and you're set.

My old 2ds is gonna need more Geritol for that

If I remember correctly, NeoDS used a Windows command-line tool to prépare the roms before you could import it.
(Probably some cache processing.)
Did you put clean roms straight to your SD card ?

i'm getting the same error, i figured if anyoone had answers it's you robz8. How do i get past that error? i use neoDS with a fowarder and it's recognising the custom rom path i've set in the .ini file

For right now, NeoDS is mostly unusable on 3DS, due to it requiring RAM disks (which can only fill up 28 MB, which NeoDS ROMs take up much more). Even with a RAM disk, it's still broken apparently.
