Installed aroma but didn't get NUSspli? Help

I installed aroma, but I didn't get NUSspli with it (the guide said I would). I tried to install it but nothing has worked. I just want to install games on Wii u, how do I do it? With NUSspli or with something else with aroma.

Just download the latest NUSSpli for Aroma, unzip it and move the NUSspli.wuhb to the wiiu/apps folder on your SD card.
Also, make sure to grab sigpatches (i.e. 01_sigpatches.rpx file) and move it to the wiiu/environments/aroma/modules/setup folder. Without it, the games you install won't work.

To install games, the only legal way right now is to buy the Disc, dump the disc to a Wup and then install said wup

Seriously though, I personally don't really like to run games from the physical medium as I want to preserve my small, humble collection of the games that I've purchased for the Wii U (among other consoles as well). I remember dumping my Mass Effect 3 disc (should've just utilized my Google-fu better instead) and my disc drive was a bit too noisy for my taste. It's probably normal, though.

Therefore, being able to install games on external HDD via NUSSpli (directly even!) is much more convenient.

What about the ticket on SLC?
That would be part of the copy, so you should remove that too.

Also what if I put the disc into the trash cause of disc rot?
Good question, I would say the license goes with the Disc, but I am not a lawyer.

But you have to do the dump only once, I think that should be tollerable

But NUSpli gets the title key from an illegal copy on the internet and creates a Fake Ticket with that. That Fake Ticket requires sigpatches to play the game. The Ticket dumped from the Disc is a real Nintendo signed and doesn't need sigpatches to run. They can be played without any CFW after installation.

Thanks for the explanation, I wasn't aware of that. That might be a reason why I was able to play some of the games that I got on my 2nd Wii U before I cleaned it up and installed Tiramisu as properly as I could.

That's not true. NUSspli calculates the key from the title ID. No internet connection required for that. See https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-wii-u-titlekey-generation-algorithm-leaked.566318/ for more informations but be warned that Nintendo used more than just two passwords. All other passwords are eqully simple through, like "test" or "1234". NUSspli also has a map of title IDs to passwords build in (+ it falls backs to "mypass" which worked even before games officially got released in the past). Now with the eShop beeing closed I would say our password list is complete. :)

The rest (about the sigpatches) is true through: At the time of writing we know how to calculate the key but not how to calculate the signatures.

There are two main up-to-date versions for the end-users and they are channel version (for Tiramisu/Haxchi) and Aroma version (for Aroma). Channel version should appear on your home menu. As for the Aroma version, you'll need to be in the Aroma environment for it to appear at all.

Hey, followed the instructions Blythe gave but still can't find nusspli.
Could you show us these instructions, please? Cause the official guide is https://wiiu.hacks.guide and that doesn't cover NUSspli (and not even sigpatches) for anti-piracy reasons.

The sigpatches plugin needed you'll find at the UWUVCI guide as you need it for injects, too: https://uwuvci-prime.github.io/UWUVCI-Resources/

NUSspli itself isn't covered at any official guide (to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong, please), so you have to do what Blythe93 said and just download it from https://github.com/V10lator/NUSspli/releases/latest and put it on the SD card as described at https://github.com/V10lator/NUSspli#install

BTW: Blythe guide, Blythe93... So is the guide the OP talks about from you @Blythe93 ? If so could you link it, please, so the rest of us knows what exactly the OP did, too? ;)

Sorry, I didn’t know those instructions existed so put the file into H:/apps rather than H:/wiiu/apps.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
