Hi,
I have a problem with Oled TOTK edition. I have successfully installed HWFLY V5 Deluxe Oled, Hekate works, I can benchmark emmc without errors, clone ofw to emmunand etc. But when I try to boot (ofw, cfw, etc) it just shows black screen, no N logo, no S logo. Sometimes I get the N logo and after a while error 2002-3556. I checked the soldering again, read the values (they are +-0.7, reset 2.9), everything is fine. I tried disconnecting the flex cables (cpu and the other) and the Oled seems to be dead. When I try to charge, nothing happens on the screen, no power. Hekate shows that it is charging, but only slowly. Can anyone help me diagnose what is wrong? I've read a lot of posts on here, searched on youtube, etc. but without luck. I found out yesterday that when I turn on the Oled, after a while the MAX77812 heats up. There are 4 "huge" capacitors near him and 3 of them are shorted (or maybe I'm just measure wrong or they should be shorted?). I will probably be able to replace the Max chip and the other near USB port is what type of chip (on him is probably DQ24193, TI 278, ABK3)? I will order them both.

Maybe one more possible good information, Oled is brand new, just one time powered on to see if he is working, but process of first initialization was not completed (set user, time etc...). On youtube Tronicfix has good channel with Switches and how to diagnose what is wrong, but only older models (and I don't know if it is aplicaple to Oled and which components to measure, on Oled they apear to be on another place).

Can anyone help and direct me on what to do (and how) to diagnose the problem?

With best regards
R.

That doesn't mean anything components can appear shorted from low impedance you should check the voltage drop

Sorry I gave you TL;NR mode earlier but after reading your issue I can safely say your eMMC is the culprit since you can boot into Hekate. You're not far away from the issue I'm facing right now but my case is much worse.

If your eMMC has no errors as you say you should be able to boot into recovery mode. Disconnect the chip and press both VOL-+ while pressing Power this should bring up the maintenance window.

Hi,
thanks, will try. I have removed all "new" added stuff, so the console is clear (but still dead).

What is TL;NR (..."Sorry I gave you TL;NR mode earlier but after"...)

Finally solved - after days of googling, inspecting and searching. I have found a very little short for eyes allmost invisible (hidden under rest of thermal paste) - cpu was grounded.

Bad news for finding problem, good news for backup of nand -> Hekate boots even if cpu is shorted... if not, it will be much easier to find problem.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
