hi,

great work on finding all that stuff and the tutorials :)

Having some issues getting it to work on android though:
"wifi tether" doesnt work on my Samsung Galaxy S4
getting "Tethering started with errors. please check logs" -> "unable to open log-file: file does not exist" on stock rom (rooted, SU via SuperSU)

The app then says it has tethering activated, neither my 3DS nor my other devices can find the SSID though.

anybody else got it to work on the S4?

cheers,
CM

So I am having an issue with the router... route.

I have changed the SSID name to attwifi, I have disable security, enabled mac clone and changed the MAC number to one from the list, and saved it all.

I then got the Nintendo Zone icon on my 3DS, it said there was a zone nearby, and I was able to access that app for everything they have on there.

But no street passes outside of my home; is there something further I should be doing?

You're probably cloning the wrong MAC. It needs to be the a wireless LAN MAC specifically. This is the most common reason.

Thanks, both of you. I'll do this when I get home. I have a feeling I've been touching WAN instead of wireless.

I'll give you my settings (Samsung Galaxy S2):

Device profile: Samsung Galaxy S2 (most people use Generic ICS/JB (wlan0), but it doesn't work for me. If you have a different phone, try seeing if it's in the list and select it. If it's not there, I suggest to just try it with all of the phone profiles)
Setup: Auto
SSID: attwifi
MAC spoof: checked
Change MAC: 4E:53:50:4F:4F:46 <-- I don't think small or capital letters make a difference though.
Routing fix: checked
Vibrate on connect: checked (prolly doesn't matter)
Disable Update-Check: checked (doesn't matter)
Disable Wake-Lock: checked (prolly doesn't matter)

For me, it doesn't work if I have any of the WiFi-driver reload options checked. It seems to mess it up for me and it won't get spoofed well (I check it with the terminall app with the command "busybox iplink show wlan0" (without quotation marks). Dunno about Send Netd Max Client and Send No Tether-Interface, but I have them unchecked.

Hope it helps.

My phone is a LG Optimus L5, so it's not on the list. aside from the decide profile, my configuration is exactly like yours.
Still can't get it to work with the Generic ICS/JB configuration.

Hello, uhh, when i put the MAC "40:53:50:4F:4F:46" in Clone Wireless MAC, but then I can't get internet in my PC, and my 3DS can't reach Nintendo Zone or WiFi (Neither my android), why is this happening?

Okay guys, I'm getting a new DD-WRT supported router. I want to use my main router for normal internet (with my WPA 2 encryption and my own SSID) and the second one for this project. If I put the second one behind the first router, will that work? So it works like this:

Main router (random MAC, with my personal SSID and security)

|
|
|

Secondary router (with both internet and local MACs spoofed, attwifi SSID) ----- 3DS connects to this one.

Would this work? The 3DS thinks the router is our MAC, but the internet comes in to the 1st router with its MAC. Should I spoof the MAC of the 1st one too?

Thanks, I'll also post this in the other thread.

I am doing the same thing. I get it to work. I set up a MAC address once. It works. Then I do it again in the DD-WRT settings and I lose complete access to the DD-WRT router. I would then have to hard reset and set it up again. I dont mind doing this but its a real pain. Any one has any solutions?

Primary router = Actiontec Verizon Fios
Secondary Router = Linksys E2500 DD-WRT

Yes, this will work. This is what I have:

Main Router (DDWRT) --- LAN PORT ---> WAN PORT --- Old Router (DDWRT)

I gave old router a IP of 192.168.0.1 and changed the subnet so devices on the old router can not see shared folders. I only change the Wireless MAC on my old router and it works fine.

Note that you can have a WPA2 encryption on attwifi and _The Cloud and it still works. You'll just have to add them to the 3DS's Internet connection.

Alright so I'm writing a script for Windows to cycle through the MACs (the first one will just change every 15 minutes, but the next one when I get more time will ask you what interval to change.

For some reason the cron script really does not want to run on my WRT54G v5.1 with DD-WRT on it, I am running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) micro - build 13064 on it. I tried everything but it just does not want to work, anyone got advice? Thanks!

Same problem. I have a
Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS and same firmware (
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) micro - build 13064 ).

OK, here's how I did it.

- Download TMac and Virtual Router Manager and install them both.

- Run CMD as Admin and enter this code:

Code:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow

- On TMac, change the MAC address of your Wi-Fi to the desired MAC from the spreadsheet. If you're only connected to the Internet through Wi-Fi, it should be the only connection that reads "Up" and "Operational".

- On VRM, create a new hotspot with SSID "attwifi". Use whatever password you want. On "Shared Connection" choose your Wireless connection. Name may vary, but the only other option should be "None", so don't pick that. Click "Start Virtual Router"

- Go to System Settings on your 3DS, and search for a new connection. It should find one named "attwifi". Try connecting to that one, and enter the password you chose at VRM. Try connecting to it until it fully succeeds, as it may not work on first try.

- Go back to the 3DS main menu and wait a few seconds until it detects Nintendo Zone. Wait a couple of minutes and you should get a StreetPass.

- To try a different MAC, you have to stop VRM, change the MAC on TMac, and go to 3DS System Setting, delete the connection and start all over. I couldn't get it to work by simply changing the MAC.

Dear god I love you. I've tried the android method, and the wired windows 7 method, and neither of them worked for me. I tried this, and it worked perfectly. One thing though, you said you needed to delete the connection on the 3DS to change your MAC, but it worked fine for me without doing that. I just disabled VRM, changed the MAC, restarted VRM again, and got another green light.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
