Hacking How to distinguish the real AK2 and AK2i

So, I've been planning on buying an Acekard 2i, since it seems to be getting much better compatibility than my R4. DealExtreme has the best price I've seen ($12 US). Does anyone know if DealExtreme sells real or rake Acekards?

So if 1.4.1 REPACK works, it's a legit card? That's a relief - Looking at my card, the 'bump' on the front isn't as prominent as in the photos, and I wasn't too eager to dismantle the thing, to check the insides.

oke lol I have an acekard pulled of sticker( on sticker was site link) and I cant see any chip its closed! I only see the shell of the card with an freaky round in the mid. and it works on akaio 1.5!
is this one fake?

I have an AK2i that I got from DealExtreme a while ago, and it works great. A friend of mine wants to buy two DSis and two AK2is for her 2 sons for Christmas. Given they are coming all the way from Hong Kong and their ship time, I have to order them soon to arive on time.

Does DX sell clones? I thought not, but they are not listed on AK's online-reseller page and then I read this which had me worried. I will pay more for a legit AK2i card, but wanted to check to make sure since I do like DX's prices and free shipping. I'm pretty confident that my own AK2i is legit given its HW81 (are there later HW releases?).

Thanks in advance for any input any of you might have on this.

how can i know if its original?
what will im gonna touch or see in its physical look?
and in its inner? (like in the psp.. you go press triangle and see if its magic gate supported.. something like that.. )

Be Care Of Clone Carts

This is the clone ak2i. They're using the "Actel" chip which we do not use for a long time. We do not sale this type of ak2i anymore. The clone cart has to open a window at the back of shell to fit the chip. You can even feel them by touching the sticker.

Here is the internal images of clone cart. By the way the PCB is also different from our older type of ak2i, which used "Actel".

Now here is the our real Acekard2i.

As you can see there's no window in the shell of real AK2i.

Now we're using new chip so that we do not have to open a window in the back of shell.

apparently the cards and labels are usually shipped separately, so they're all put on by hand.

I already took the stickers off half way and they were both solid.

Hm so yeah is it real or not XD

If you are going to post pictures, then post some of a decent size you can see very little in those.
Bad AK2.1 carts are everywhere, even if you were to return you will likely get another bad cart in exchange. Most of these bad carts are HW:80/ HW:8080.

As for the AK2i, run the firmware update on it. Most recent cards are CHIP ID:0fc2 HW:8181. If it runs that fine, and doesn't have a window in the front I would take that as genuine cart.

You should also be able to run the FW update on the AK2.1. It will give you an error message that the cart can't be update, but it will still give you the CHIP ID/ HW.
