By Nintendo or some 2 bit shop?
I'm confused, you said you got a repair done under warranty but now said you paid for it???
Well of course you'll get a years warranty on something you've paid for, but as Mr. Wizard said that's only on the repair, unless the £53 was for an extended warranty which is a whole other kettle of fish?
Because you paid for a repair that you said is under warranty and you received a warranty extension on the whole unit. This does not add up.by nintendo ffs why dont you belive me lol

I have not read all the replies in this thread but I can confirm this method is the safest yes.
To be clear,
- Keep clean nand backup somewhere safe.
- Then do all your shenanigans offline forever. Remove wifi settings completely.
- Want to play fortnite? Simply restore to your clean nand backup.
I have not been banned and doing this for weeks now.
Bye

You can get away without backing up USER since it only stores installed titles, saves, updates, and DLC data but most people recommend it as recovering those individually might take more time than backing USER by itself. Thanks for all the replies!
But i have one more question, I should back up everything including USER right? or can I get away without User?
So does this mean i can just back up SYSTEM, BCPKG2-1-Normal-Main, BOOT0, PRODINFO, etc. without USER then restore it and no (Higher than usual) ban risk? You can get away without backing up USER since it only stores installed titles, saves, updates, and DLC data but most people recommend it as recovering those individually might take more time than backing USER by itself.
Oh my question wasn't in reference to ban-risk. Who knows where that type of data is being logged. If you were trying to avoid a ban, I'd backup and restore everything. The goal is to make your Switch look like it was never hacked to begin with and that includes every aspect of it.So does this mean i can just back up SYSTEM, BCPKG2-1-Normal-Main, BOOT0, PRODINFO, etc. without USER then restore it and no (Higher than usual) ban risk?
EDIT: As long as i dont install the nsp to internal memory.

This is why there is a EULA. Modifying your Switch is perfectly legal at least in Europe. You can do whatever you want with your switch since it is yours. Though Nintendo can deny you access to their network, which is what a ban does.Bans for using NAND tools would be against the right to repair IMHO which might be a legal hot potato in the US atm but certainly remains legal in Europe and Nintendo's home market of Japan. You are not doing them or their network any harm by backing up your onboard eMMC.
I would be extremely surprised if anyone was banned for this or if it was even legal to ban someone for this.
