Community has gotten pretty meh over the years, but I've seen worse. I did live through the Pokéfloods. But I still wish the community would improve.
I would give the site a 7.9/10. Community needs some work, staff is pretty solid, and I really couldn't leave this site even if I tried

So trying to not make this a rant about the community, but the communities become rather meh in recent years. Like how the CFW has just become a cult, something you didn't see as common during the NDS years. Most of the time in the NDS years, the communities just kind of left each other alone and outside of the pre-wood hate for the R4. You didn't really see things like M3 users attacking Acekard users. There other issues, but I am more focusing on the community I used to be part of compared to the community I am currently part of.

I understand. I do see a bit of cultish behaviors in the 3ds seen. Although, not everyone is bad. Using you as an example, you made an entire thread about which firmware is best for "me," not being biased at all to any. (Even RxTools when it was a thing.) If the community was like you back in the day, I can see why you would be disappointed today

Pretty bad these days.

3DS section and Wii U section are just awful. People prefer to insult people and make "witty" posts for likes rather than actually help. That's if topics aren't being derailed because someone dares to not use the latest and greatest method or because users have an axe to grind over something.

I doubt I would bother to sign up for help now with the way people behave.

It's ridiculous, people managed to act civilised even when we had a relativly large investment in whatever method you had (gba cards costing £100+), so you'd think people would be more defensive of thier choice, but nope, generally helpful. Most stuff is free these days and people act like animals.

This. This is why I gave up on Homebrew here. I hate it when people are condescending; I get enough of that in real life, I don't need it when I'm on forums. I realize that I should try to alleviate this mood by being a bit more helpful myself, but my patience has worn thin with the 3DS Community. Besides, the 3DS Community doesn't care about making Homebrew; they only care about hacks and free games, which is a damn shame.

Overall, though, this site is pretty nice. I've been looking to branch out to other forums, but they don't really have that odd sense of community that this place has. There are some things I don't like about this site (why am I complaining, I'm a fucking shitposter for pete's sake), but the site is nice enough for me to keep checking it several times a day.

I think it helped that back then all of the communities were broken apart into their own little communities. So if you expected M3 help, you had an entire M3 section for it. You ended up with less clutter and more dedicated sections.
