Hacking How do I fix R4 Gold Wants to Format and Error Message?

I was just playing with my new R4 and I wanted to transfer the ROMs from the Card into my Drive but I got an error. I just pressed cancel and didn't really care much. I then put the card into my DS and loaded up the R4 but I get an image of an SD Card saying "Error." I tried putting the SD card back into my computer to see what was the problem but it tells me to format the card to open it. I'm really confused. Any help would be appreciated.

    I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
