Hello,
I was wondering if I can get some advice on how to proceed I have ready many tutorials but am overwhelmed/confused with all the information as not all the information is up to date.

I have
-1 Nintendo switch firmware 5.1.0 clean
-1 XS OS Pro
-1 32gb sdcard fat32
-1 256gb sdcard exfat

From what I have read.

After activating license

I should.
1. Dump Nand (i will be using the 32gb card) ---> back this up somewhere safe.
2. Create emunand (the emunand will be version 5.1.0 i assume)
3. Update sysnand from 5.1.0 to 9.1.0 (i will be using the 256gb sd card as well as it requries an update for usage)
4. Use choiDuJourNX latest version to update Emunand to 9.1.0

is that the correct sequence?

Format your 256gb card to FAT32 (use a tool such as guiformat) since exFAT formatted cards are known to corrupt. The switch always supports FAT32 So you won't need to do an update.
If you want to update your sysnand then it's safe to do so through Nintendo servers assuming it's clean. To update your emunand using choidujournx is fine.

@Xdqwerty Cool. It's a safe browser, I just don't like the ethics of Chrome and prefer to support Firefox.

So assuming it could be tied to a pirated version of the os you installed on the vm

@ZucchiniMaiden, and bc I don't wanna be scolded for changing stuff on my PC

Anytime you come across a suspicious file, a detected threat, suspect a file detection may be a possible false positive or you want a second opinion, submit it to one of the online services that analyzes suspicious files for possible malware.

I installed a Windows XP ISO onto a VM and used a fake product key, as does everybody else, so my best bet is that it's either a false positive or Windows XP having terrible security.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
The product key generator could be tied to mailware like mentioned in the links
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
No, just found product keys in a list on archive.org

whatevs, Security removed it from my device

    There you go

@K3Nv3, Cloud scanners often interpret machine learning to understand the inner workings of a program and checks to see if functionality compares to how malware operates. Hence why it's not always accurate and you get false positives such as W32.Wacatac.

It's interesting that the ISO came with the browser though, is it also pre-loaded with other stuff?
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
now, back to what I was doing last night: going insane because Firefox can't set the new tab page to your custom new tab page-- apparently as a security issue
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Yes that was also mentioned in the links I posted
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
@ZucchiniMaiden No no, it was a blank install of XP, I installed the software afterwords lol
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
I would not recommend using a product key generator to generate keys, you can find em on the internet relatively easy. And as for Windows XP keys, a certain GitHub page has them. :P

Pirated copies of os can also be detected especially with torrent links

    Now, hmm...
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
Is there a Firefox feature in like maybe about:config to change the new tab page to the home page?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Settings > Home > Change 'New Tabs' to anything.

"New Tabs" only has Firefox Home or Blank Page
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@K3Nv3, There's the Windows Genuine Advantage that got implemented in SP3 if I remember which checked the license of your Windows installation to see if the key was either pirated or whether it's been activated.
