It might go faster, just check it out.

I should re-phrase my question. I wanted to know if there was anyone who had played it originally (someone in Australia or a PAL-only region) that could compare it to how the ROM plays on the NES Classic. Highly unlikely as this was a really obscure title, but I thought I'd ask. Same thing would go for International Cricket on the NES, but that one was probably more played due to regional popularity.

This might be a really stupid question

but I see people have been posting patches for roms to help them run better

...how do you apply these patches to the roms?

Sorry, going through 80 pages to find an answer for a question that might not have been asked is kind of a lot to do

I did a very guerrilla style video(s) on my YT channel take a quick look

I found a great castlevania 3 translation (of Akumajou Densetsu) but I get a Mapper #24 error when trying to load into hakchi.

Any way the next hakchi will include mapper 24?

just wanted to stop in again to thank you @Cluster the reset button combo is a game changer! Thank u so much for ur continued support and work on this amazing tool! I have shared this thread with the few friends that have been able to get their hands on a NES classic (still really hard to find here in NYC) and have told them to please donate some $ to u. So expect more donations in the near future. U deserve it and I hope other users on here realize u deserve it too! UR THE MAN @Cluster

Otg seems to work... else we had no pc connection... or am i wrong?

Yes, driver... i believe someone can handle it!

Nope, because I plugged my OTG cable in the other day and a usb drive and it doesn't do anything. Plugging into your PC isn't OTG

It doesn't "include" mappers. The system either supports a mapper or it doesn't, and some not 100%. There is nothing hakchi can do to magically make it support more/different mappers. At least not until the device is "hacked" more and someone can create different emulation support for it.

thanks cluster for this awesome hack!!!

all works fine except the kachikachi mapper support is really troublesome...

the original japanese version of Portopia Serial Murder Case is mapper 0 (NROM, no mapper) and works fine. after patching the english translation (Rev. B) the mapper is changed to 68 (Sunsoft 4) which is not supported. i forced the flash and it gives error c6. there is a patch available (for repro purposes) that changes the mapper back to 2 (UxROM) which should be supported. works fine in latest windows emus (fceux, nestopia and punes) but on mini nes it just gives a black screen although the music is playing.

i get the same behavior with the game Lala the Magical (PD rom released 2016-12) which uses mapper 66 (GxROM). although not supported, after force flash it gives the same problem as Portopia (black screen, music playing but no video output).

i tried tinkering the ines header but to no avail, btw does kachikachi respect ines header 2.0 specs?

next i will try:
Sweet Home with latest 2017 english addendum
Mother/Earthbound 25th Faithful Edition
Metroid Rogue Dawn (i think already tested with some gameplay glitches)
Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu english
Jesus Kyoufu no Bio Monster english
Digital Devil Monogatari Megami Tensei english
and some more, i will report the results...

looking forward to mute/disable bg music and hopefully some mapper fixes ;)

@Cluster I note when I tried to add Galaxian (J) (REVA) hakchi2 gives a error. I tried the same but version (REV0) and works ok in hakchi2 but the game gives a grey screen, it's because a CRC check or it's a bug?. I tell you to notice that.
The mapper of this game appears to don't be complex.

Thanks in advance.

Just because it's listed that the classic supports a certain mapper doesn't mean it will support every game that uses those mappers

It's because the game is only 16kB, all emulators have problems with that, even the everdrive.
What you need is an overdump of 24kB of that game, should be easy to google it...

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
