Picked up a PS TV at Wal-Mart on clearance for 15 dollars (the bundle that came with a controller and a couple game codes) and want to use it for homebrew via the new Henkaku hack. I don't have a PS3 so the older e-mail hack for PSP games won't work for me. Updating it will only take me to 3.61. Is there a way to update the Vita TV to just 3.6?

Its easier on this PSTV. Search for 3.60 fw.

  • USB flash drive.
    There must be 150 MB of free space.
    • On the USB flash drive, create folders for saving the update file.
      Using a computer, create a folder named "PSVITA" on the USB flash drive. Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE".
    • Download the update file, and save it in the "UPDATE" folder you created in step 1.Save the file with the file name "PSVUPDAT.PUP".
    • Turn off the power of your PS TV system completely.
    • Press and hold the Power button on your PS TV system for at least 7 seconds to turn on the power. The system starts in safe mode.
    • Connect a controller using a USB cable, and then press then PS button.
    • Select [Update System Software] > [Update from USB Storage Device].
    • Connect the USB flash drive that the update file is saved on to your PS TV system. Follow the screens to complete the update.

    @_Ruri_, they slip

    Hm, it makes sense. Nothing else comes to my mind then :/ I guess you have to either make efforts finding the right screwdriver or just give up
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @_Ruri_, I'd rather give up
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    @Xdqwerty, I guess. No places that sell screwdrivers around?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @_Ruri_, not that I remember
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    Oof. Maybe supermarkets sell them?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @_Ruri_, mmaybe
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    They should be pretty common screwdrivers so there's a chance
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    Don't know about the tri-wing screwdrivers though
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    They're basically Nintendo exclusive from what I know so no chance you're gonna find them in random physical stores
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    The normal cross ones you could though so you can probably take out the back cover
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @_Ruri_, they don't seem to be tri wing screws
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    @Xdqwerty, You could have a chance to take out at least the back cover then

    Dunno about the insides though, never disassembled a 3ds

    Try checking out the iFixit guides

  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    Huh according to the iFixit guides it doesn't seem like you need tri wing screwdrivers to disassemble the insides
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    That's pretty good news

  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    Rest are standard Philips screwdrivers
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    And various spudgers but you could make-do with other stuff no problem
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    What's the issue again?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Brb gonna shower

    Okay see you

    @Xdqwerty, Dunno if you'll read this but I finished reading the story, I love the humor lol, and the idea of an incompetent hero with a smart kid is really particular, haven't seen it around much. Their dynamic kinda reminds me of Manzai (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manzai) humor, pretty cool

    A small flathead screwdriver that just fits in the center unscrews triwing screws with ease
