I knew it was just a matter of time. So instead of going through all these methods and messing with my wii, I just waited till today.
The new anti 002 fix on usbloader gx will make games like ghostbusters play on any revision. I can confirm it works like a charm on my pal 3.2 wii with cios36 rev10.

I updated to the latest USBLoader GX and my setup is identical to yours but I still get the green screen. Care to elaborate?

Summary of the thread:

Problem 1:
The game is a 002b game. If ANY kind of main.dol 002 patch is applied to the game, it freezes at a green screen. You need cIOSrev13a to avoid this. If you get the 002 error then, it's obvious you need another loader/enable the 002 fix in your loader. Note that a green screen freeze could also indicate a region problem, try to play with disc region video mode, black&white playback means the game works and you only need to fix the video mode problem somehow.

Problem 2:

The game freezes for some people at the health screen. Mostly people using discs which are limited to 3x reading speed(softmods+flatcable modchips) report this. There are different solutions for this problem:
1. Play from sd or usb, works for most people
2. Press A,-,+ and/or home rapidly and/or with the correct timing, seems to not have too much effect
3: Press eject in the second the screen flashes white for the health screen, if you are promted to reinsert the disc, it worked. Confirmed to work by many people
4. Play without sd card insterted. 1 Confirmation so far

PS: Many people reported that some weird settings like force and patch video modes worked for them, but these were coincidences, patching a NTSC game to NTSC on a NTSC console is nonsense.
PPS: Oh yeah, why i do this: I can't stand the 100th post: "Hey guys, i found the solution, press eject in the right...."

that's exactly what i had to do is, go back to rev 13a instead of 13b and problem solved when using the 002 fix. im using usb. i cant believe how long this thread has gotten. your post is the perfect solution.

I can confirm that Ghostbusters works on the following:
System Menu 4.0U
cIOS Rev 13 (left 13b installed, didnt work, installed 13a, worked perfectly)
with NeoGamma R4, set to fix 002 bug
USB Harddrive

There were no other tricks, or strategies I had to use.

NeoGamma R4 patches 002 automatically, the anti 002 fix option is to fix 002b when an IOS is used that also fixes 002. Sounds weird, but it's the only way for now.

Your copy was retail or Dled. if you don't want to reply here send me a pm. i think these guys are ramming their heads against a wall over a bad uploaded version of the game.

Using USB Loader GX and cIOS V13a I got a black screen.
If I put any disk in the drive and try again it works just fine.

Ok I have tried everything and I cant get Ghostbusters to run. I load it from the disk channel. It gives me an error with a black screen. I load it from DVD, it gives me a green screen. I loaded it with NEOGamma. It freezes at the health screen. I tried taking the SD out and the eject and none of that worked. I installed to USB and when I boot it it gives me a black screen with error 002. I updated to the latest USB Loader GX and gives me the same error. How can I get this to run?

My version is um.. a backup. Not one that I have dumped myself either.
Edit: NTSC Console, NTSC Iso.

Ok NEOGamma Running the game from a USB is the only thing that seems to work for me. But at least it does work. I though I would never play the game jstu because I have the 360 version and the Wii verison just looks dumb but everyone said it would be good and gamespot gave it the highest score so now that its finially working, I think it sucks. lol Oh well.

i get greemn screen on both ....

ok if i install cIOS38_rev13-Installer will i be able to play with a modchip as i am reading that you need this just for a soft modded wii.

any help would be really appreciated as i have tried and search everywhere to get these 2 games working .

This may be a bit late but. Eject the disc. Not the SD Card just as the warning screen comes on then hit eject. If you don't get the "please insert the ghosbusters disc" msg you are too late. it works on disc loader and neogamma R3 on a 3.2 e

The game is good by the way for a WII.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
