sigh as far as I can tell the only thing that Sony may be doing wrong is if you have cfw on your system that they can keep your system from doing anything at all, but unless my resources are wrong and it just bans you from the PSN then they have a right to do so.

Wish there was a way for people to not get ban from PSN just for using cfw for homebrew and just ban pirates and cheaters. :/

Same here, it's quite annoying that you need another console to play your legit games online if you wish to use a CFW for homebrew.

If he wins (which in all likely of cases he will), this is a big step forward for homebrewers. Homebrewers can make amazing apps/games, and then when someone picks up on it, that person could land a job at a development studio. There's no telling what could happen, but it's all good. Get a life.

And how the bloody hell does any of that figure into what I just said? All four of your listed "rebuttals" involve buying yourself (or someone you know) something, rather than donating to charity. Since when was that ever the same as sending money to some arrogant fuckwad in America who doesn't know or care who you are, who got himself into deep shit he can't afford to get himself out of and who needs us to bail him out? I think buying food and going to school is a lot more fucking important than supporting homebrew, don't you? Or are your priorities so fucked up that you'd let yourself or your family starve before you let someone else?

I don't give a damn if this is a "big step forward" for homebrewers. The App Store, Steam and the Android Market are perfect places for "homebrewers" to make amazing apps and games. In fact, as far as I can tell, those people are just simply called indie developers. Guess what? Indie developers land jobs at development studios. Indie developers can even make money from their creations. Indie developers get much more coverage than "homebrewers", too.

I can't believe people actually think this is going to work. Sony is a multibillion dollar company and no amount of lawyers is ever going to be enough to win this for Geohot. All that'll happen is that Sony will release a new console and they'll make it harder to hack. Even if Geohot somehow manages to get courts to legalise hacking like they did with the iPhone, there's no way Sony is going to actually stop releasing updates to prevent it. Piracy, which is unquestionably the biggest driving force behind hacking, will be more than enough reason for Sony to never give in.
