GDC 2020 has been postponed to later this summer

With nearly every company cancelling their appearances at this year's Game Developers Conference due to fears of Coronavirus, the organizers of the event had been forced to either cancel, or delay GDC 2020. A new press release shows that "after close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community", GDC 2020 has been postponed by a few months into late summer. Whether or not this will put the Game Developers Conference before or after E3 is yet to be seen, but we'll soon learn more details about the rescheduled plans for the event in the coming weeks.

dumb media makes everyone panicking but the reality is that not even 0.1 of the population has it plus the chance that you don’t die from it is pretty high
yeah our media isn't any better keeps saying Australia is preparing for a country world pandemic because one person gets off a plane and doesn't declare they have it. what a load of BS fucking news always using scare tactics to get you interested in them. the person has been contained by the way so fuck them and the virus

Everything is cancelled except work / school.

They just want us to panic over a flu that killed only 3% from the total infected people, and most of the people who died because of the virus are old and couldn't take it.
The thing is, a normal virus can kill you if you didn't take vaccine, most of us already took the vaccine for the old viruses so the chances for anyone to die from those viruses are pretty slim, and Corona is a new virus that need a new vaccine that's all.
The problem with the media is that they don't show the number of the people who got treated well, they will just add numbers on the infected victims to show the world that thousands of victims are in danger.
It's just a media thing.

That depends on where you happen to live. Even officials in the US have admitted those things may need to be closed temporarily.

The flu is only fatal for about 0.1%, including for old people IIRC. That's why this isn't like the flu. Besides, fatality rate is hardly the only issue, corona is highly infectious and it can take weeks to show symptoms. Each person that has contracted the virus has infected five to six other individuals on average.

Cancelling large events like this actually does make sense since it’s a gathering of people from all around the world, perfect breeding ground for potentially spreading disease internationally.

Even if the chances of dying are low, the infection still needs treatment/resources to deal with and it could spread to someone where they would die.

If only someone close died to those tht think this virus is nothing - all it took was 1 person to catch this and now it wil infect millions and remba thers no cure for those tht get it bad -some of you really are ignorant twats

Iirc it’s believed Bird Flu started spreading because 1 person sneezed in a lift.

Covid 19 - 2.3 casualty rate.
H1N1 - 0.3 casualty rate

Not something to take lightly.

I remember reading a post that said that it could take a year and a half to two years to develop anything practical of a vaccine. Unfortunately, because my two caregivers won't help yours truly out with some of his bills and the fact that I live an hour and a half from Chicago, I can only hope that I can luck out of all of this and that travel ban to China will mean that, with successful containment, life can continue as normal and that a treatment for all different coronaviruses can be developed to where they can counter all of this shit much more quickly than this panic of a response.

The flu kill thousands every year without anyone giving a fuss about it. It can also mutate and cause a pandemic.

Not saying the Covid 19 isn't serious, but the panic isn't helping anyone. It kills people people whose immune system is weak. It doesn't kill at random.

If anything, and I apologize if that seems a little cold, it will have a much bigger impact on the economy in the long term. With companies hopefully reconsidering the purpose of producing stuff in 40 different places all over the world just to sell a product a few dollars cheaper.

what are you talking about the media has been lying and downplaying this pandemic for almost 2 months
how much of what is going on in Wuhan have they shown ? how many of these videos have they shown on MSM , ZERO

MSM and social media are censoring to prevent panic because of muh markets but it's already too late and they have
now sealed our fate this could have been prevented if they warned people properly 2 months ago but now because of stupidity and greed those scenes are going be playing out around the globe ,it has already started ,there is already panic buying all around the country mile long lines at costcos coast to coast and that is only from news of one death what do you think is going to happen when they can't hide it anymore and people start dropping out in the streets , in food stores ,shopping malls ,airports like they are in China South Korea and Iran and the videos start to surface
i think it's about to get real ugly

or maybe you you believe Trump , hurdur virus will go away in April with the ark weather
yeah might want to check the temps in Singapore South Korea , Iran, Iraq and all the other places with 80-90 degree F climates this shit is spreading like wildfire right now
GDC is not postponed it is canceled,Olympics will be canceled ,everything is canceled , this is not going to go away by July it will only get exponentially worse by then

Ummmm, wouldn't producing/sourcing from MORE locations actually reduce potential issues?

If anything consolidating to just the minimal amount of locations would INCREASE potential issues.

Let's say everything became 'born in the USA' and the USA suffered from a pandemic, same problem would exist.
