Why bother when the M3 mini SD only comes in GBA size
But as JPH said, if you go for the micro SD version (maybe if you have a spare micro SD), you will need to make sure you get the spare GBA sized case.
minisd is better because you wont have to take out the m3 perfect from the micro when you need to put new games on the minisd card

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
