How to set up GeckoOS/Ocarina for use on an unmodified Wii
Requirements:
* Wii version of Zelda: Twilight Princess
* SD Card
* SD Card Reader
* Computer
If you have all of the following, then you will need to download the
Twilight Hack, and then place the correct region save onto your Wii console.
Note that you have to play Twilight Princess at least once before it will allow you to copy it to the console. Also, on the 3.4 firmware, only the latest version will successfully copy to the Wii.
After that is done, you will need some homebrew to load from an SD card. With the Twilight Hack, it is recommended that you use it once to install the
Homebrew Channel. With the Homebrew Channel, it will make the loading of homebrew applications much more convenient, as you will not need Twilight Princess each time. Download the Homebrew Channel files, and place the
'boot.dol' file onto the root of your SD card. Execute the Twilight Hack by running backwards when the game starts, read any disclaimers, and if you agree, you can install the Homebrew Channel.
To run applications from the Homebrew Channel, create a folder on the root of your SD card, and name it
'apps'. For GeckoOS, simply download
this file, unzip it, and place the unzipped
'gos-hbc-dol' folder into the
'apps' folder. Next, download the
Wii Cheat Code Manager, which will allow you to create GCT files for cheats. Use the following site for codes...
http://www.usbgecko.com/codes
Go to the game page that you want, and save the TXT file onto your computer. Open the Wii Cheat Code Manager, and then open that TXT file through it. At this point, you can select which codes that you want to use. When you have selected all of the codes that you want, click on
'Export to GCT', and export the file to your SD card. This program will create a
'codes' folder on the root of your SD card. Place the SD card into the Wii, start the Homebrew Channel, and you should see an option for GeckoOS. Start GeckoOS, start the game, and the codes will then be applied.
