Hello,

As we are now able to play LAN games on our switches https://gbatemp.net/threads/exclusive-online-play-for-banned-members-network-possible.520846/ people will be experimenting and looking for LAN games.
I'm thinking if our community could start maintaining list of LAN enabled games everyone can refer to (sticky thread if it goes well?).
Idea is simple. No "discussion", just game tittle(s) with LAN option in replies so I can update OP.
If such maintained list exists, links would be also preferable so I can update OP or topic could be closed.

Few tips:
- Once again - this list is about LAN games, not Local Wireless. Difference is, "Local Wireless" is Wi-Fi ad-Hoc connection between nearby switches. LAN mode uses your existing home/office/school/whatever network you use.

- In most cases "Local Wireless" is default option and "LAN" has to be activated on certain screen by variation of certain key combination usually requiring pressing left analog and bumpers - [Left Stick] + [L] + [R].
- Some games had LAN play delivered as an update hence game might need update. Please note especially if you have only XCI game you might need NSP update. Please do not ask here to get them from.
- All players need the same game version - I mean game update, not region.
- f you turn local connection or however game mode is called and you get changed WI-Fi icon with "L" shaped symbol -

- it means you have entered Local Wireless mode, not LAN mode.

Thanks to everyone who contributed!!

Games with LAN mode found so far :toot::
SPLATOON 2 (always requires latest patch to run)

Press [Left Stick] + [L] + [R] at the local play option - it's called "The Shoal".
Hold down until screen goes black and Wireless mode is replaced with LAN mode.

MARIO KART 8 v1.0
Press [Left Stick] + [L] + [R] on the main menu screen.

MARIO TENNIS v1.2
Select Free Play from the Main Menu
Press [Left Stick] + [L] + [R]

POKKEN TOURNAMENT DX v1.3.3
This one is tricky.
From the very main screen where game asks to "Press [L] + [R] to start":
Press + [X] + [Arrow Down (either digital or analog stick)] then add [L] + [R]
New screen asking if you want to enter Event Mode will appear.

ARMS v1.1.0

At the main menu screen:
[Left Stick] + [L] + [R]

Titan Quest
Start game as "Multiplayer - Local"

RetroArch (Homebrew apps)
They simply work via tunel as part of your LAN

Bayonetta 2
Enter "Tag climax" then press [Left Stick] + [L] + [R]
"Local Play" will be replaced with "LAN Play"

Arms, Pokken, Minecraft, Splatoon, MK8D.

That's what I got from a quick Google search, there's probably more

Note Local wireless play and Lan are two different things,

As far as i know only First party nintendo titles support the lan Feature,

Poken , Splatoon, Mario Tennis, Mariokart, Arms,

Hard to find anything else. :(
...especially people on the internet do not distinguish "Local Wireless" (Wi-Fi Ad-Hoc) from LAN party games.
...and LAN feature is usually deeply hidden or added over some time by game update.

The lan function is probably added to decrease as much latency as possible so the games can be used for esports/ competitive plays,

Where the wireless is more for casual gaming,
I see so you can add your own server IP etc.. NICE

Are there already community's for games like mario kart for example where ppl gather to play MK8 for banned users?

@Chrisssj2 "Local Wireless" is Switch's ad-hoc connection created by mesh of switches stacked in one room. Switch's Wi-Fi goes into ad-hoc mode and you lose all internet connectivity.

LAN is playing via your existing local (home/school/office) network so you play wherever you have cable/wireless access.
By LAN we mean Local Area Network regardless it's wi-fi or by USB network adapter. As long as switches are connected to your network, you are in LAN.
Also LAN packets can be captured (capturing device has to be connected either via Ethernet or Wi-Fi adapter needs promiscue mode) and tunnelled outside
...and this is how we are able to play with distant friends - by creating "virtual" network and tunnelled between server and clients.

On the offline lobby there is a local connection semi sphere towards the right iirc

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
